Transfer Question: I'm totally confused!!

Please help me understand! We just bought a dvc membership from another member. The account has * points that will expire September 1, 2010. Can I transfer those points since I am going to loose them? I keep reading that you cannot transfer banked points, but I also read that you can sell points that you are going to loose, so I'm confused. I posted these points for transfer, but now I am thinking that I shouldn't have done that! Oops : ( If I cannot transfer banked points, what points can I transfer and how do you do it?

You can not transfer banked points but you can offer to rent a reservation for someone using those points.

Only current UY points can be transferred. At this point, I would think that is your only option if you will be be able to use them.

And, if you have a Sept UY, then the last night you can book with those points is August 31st.

Are you sure these * points that are part of the membership you just purchased are in fact banked ? Call MS and ask them to confirm that.
It is possible these can be current Use Year points
( September 2009 UY which is "current" UY is 9/1/2009 through 8/31/2010 ).

If these * points are banked then to make a transfer the only points you could do that with would be from your September 2010 Use Year allotment.

Remember, that if you are in a use/lose situation, you can deposit those points into RCI for an exchange anytime within the next 2 years.

Might be worth it for you to do that if you can't rent a ressie for someone, there aren't a lot of rooms available at this time.
