Transfer Procedure/Recommendations

I am a new DVC member (August 2007) and I was wondering, what is a correct way to go about a transfer in which both parties (transfer(er) and transfer(ee) are protected?
I know that a certain amount of trust needs to extended from both parties but just wanted to know a fair way to go about it. I will be receiving the points and this is my first go round.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am not really sure I have had points transferred into me only once.we did not use a contract or anything it was someone on the Dis that had been around a long time and had references.
So all I did was use PP and pay for the points then they called DVC and transferred them to me. It took all of about 15 minutes for everything from beginning to end.

How did you go about the reference situation.

I just ask them to provide references.It made me feel alot better that the ones were here from the Dis.
It is the most simple way to do it but it is still very risky thats why I would never rent from someone that has not been a member for a long time and has alot of postings under their belt.But thats just me not everyone is like that and thats OK but for me thats how I do it.
When I have rented to people in the past I have always sent my references of people I have rented to before.

I have done two transfers into my account, one from a longtime Dis and DVC member and one from a newer owner on another board. Both times I paid 50%, the member transferred the points, and then I paid the remaining 50% (via Paypal...and that's another story).
It does involve trust but both members I worked with turned out to be super nice people.
