Transfer points?

I am a DVC member but have never rented/transferred points before so was hoping for some advice.



My question is, can a fellow DVC member transfer those points in to my account (i.e. my account then showing * points rather than *) or can they only make bookings on someone else's behalf?

If someone is willing to, they can transfer points to you via member services. The points will not show up in your account online, but MS can see them. These transferred in points retain their home resort and Use Year.

For example, your DF transfers in points from her home resort AKV, use year, February. Your home resort is BCV, use year, December. To combine these points you will have to wait until the 7 month mark to make a reservation as they have are not the same use year, nor same home resort.

Now if DF has the same home resort and use year as you do, and you wish to make a reservation at your home resort, then you could make a reservation at the 11 month mark.

BTW, some members don't like to transfer so few points as they can one use a transfer either in or out once a year per member number. So both you and your friend would use up this years transfer.

The Use Year does NOT need to be the same, just the Home Resort ~and~ that both OP's points and the Transferred Points are valid for the dates when the trip will actually take place. So using what DenLo posted re a member with December UY who has a member transferring to them with February UY ( AND both have same Home Resort ) for example, on Jan 1 2011 at 11 month priority booking window for that Home Resort they may call & book there for stay beginning Dec 1 2011 using both that member's Dec 2010 UY points (which will be banked to 2011 UY &/or the member can use points from their Dec 2011 UY allotment) and also using those transferred in Feb 2010 UY points providing that after receiving they've banked those transferred points into Feb 2011 UY.
