Transfer points question?

If another DVC member transferred points into my account: 1. If they are 2005 points can I bank them into 2006? Can I ask that they be the same UY so it's eaier for me when I make a reservation?

Here's what I may do: We have a 7 DCL Western booked for 9/2006. I am not having much luck renting out points (how can my "little" amount of points compete? ) We booked that cruise on board so we will leave it there for a few months until we decide. In case we do not go on the cruise, we may take a longer WDW vacation. I'd want pts transferred to my account because we'll need about 44 more pts. and I do not want to borrow because the next few vacations are mapped out to a tee and those points are spoken for. So basically, I want to buy (not rent) 44 pts now (June UY) and bank them by November and then make a reservation in January for late June/early July 2006. My UY is June. I hope that made sense. Can someone explain if that's "do-able?" Or if there is a better solution I'm all ears! I'd love to go on the cruise and still might, but renting points out isn't as easy as people make it out to be. When you post on the rent/trade board that you wish to have points transferred into your account, I'd post that you'd prefer a specific use year (June) for any resort. Points that are transferred are able to be banked for one year, just like your own. Please don't forget that points may be transferred into your account a maximum of once per year.

I thought they could be transferred in more than once, but you could only transfer one direction per year. Either all out or all in?

You are right wtpclc: one direction as many times as you like. I received transfer points into my account three times last years and twice so far this year (you'd think 495 pts of our own would be enough, but apparently not). No no limits on number of times, but it can only be in one direction (in or out).

As for banking those transferred points, technically they retain their use year and home resort. But in practise they go into your UY at you first home resort, with some manual annotations in the system. Now here's the good news: transfer points do not count towards your banking limits! This means that points transferred into my account can be banked as long as my last banking deadline has not passed. We have a February UY, so the 50% deadline is in October and the 25% deadline is November; so I just need to bank the transfer points by end-November. But that's any amount of transfer points.
