transfer points between members??

HI Everyone: This may not be the place for this, but here goes.

My sister called yesterday and wants to go to WDW and stay at BCV next April. She has never been to WDW and I suggested she rent some points and stay at BCV. I don't have enough points to set her up and she is very worried about renting points from a stranger. If I rent some points from someone can they transfer them to my account and then can I make the ressie? If the answer is yes, how long does it take to transfer the points, can I make the ressie immediately, and what else do I need to know. Thanks again

Yes, about two minutes and you can use them immediately.

here's a scenario... my neighbor owns at vero, but i own at bwv and vwl. if she transfers some of her points to me can i use those points to make ressies at the 11 month window for either of my home resorts?

Now an answer that you may find interesting. Maybe. It's not supposed to work that way but because of the limitations of the DVC computer system, it could work.

I worked out an arrangment with someone who owns at the BCV to transfer her points to my account. The points were transferred into my account, which has the VWL as the master contract. I called to use the points at the 11 month window for the BCV and was told no, they were VWL points, not BCV points. So some how these points changed from the time they went from one account to the other.

After going on hold for a long time we were able to get the points moved to my BCV contract and I was able to use them as I had planned. If I didn't do that, I could have made reservations at the VWL with BCV points at the 11 month mark.

Good luck. This was about 6 months ago that this happened.

We did the same thing the OP asked about. We are taking the entire family to BCV next March and needed more points. Rather than have my inlaws rent I had another member transfer the points into my account. This increased my inlaws comfort level with renting.

The whole process was very easy. We did a three way call with MS to get the points transferred. Once the points are transferred in they can not be transferred back out so no worries about the renter backing out. Payment was made through paypal just before the three way call.

As with HBC we had some difficulty because I rented BCV points and they were transfered to my VWL account. A supervisor was able to make the BCV reservations at the 11 month window but I had to be persistant.

Just remember that you are VERY likely to have to pay for the points BEFORE they are transferred. IMO, this creates a more risky situation than renting where you can at least see the confirmation in most situations BEFORE you have to send any payment.
