Transfer of DVC Points

Can 2 DVC Members transfer his/her points to each other? For example, my home resort is OKW. If one year I want to stay at VWL and I want to be able to make my reservation 11 months prior, can I transfer my Old Key West points to someone who is interested in staying at Old Key West and who has VLW as his/her home resort and he/she would transfer the VLW points to me?

If this is possible, is it that simple? Do I post on the forum for someone who is interested? Once I find someone, how do we handle the transfer? Do we call MS? If so, do we both have to contact MS together at the same time?

Sorry for the all the questions. Just curious how this all works.

No you can't do it. You are allowed transfers either in or out of your account in a year. So only one of you could do it. But......

There is a problem with transfers to different contracts. The DVC computers have a hard time tracking home resorts on a transfer. You friend may transfer points into your account and they may become what your contract is. This is quite common under the current system.

Why not just make each other's reservations? It seems easier.

Yes. I have mostly BWV points. Someone wanted a standard view there and I wanted some time at HHI. We each made the reservations for each other. I posted what I wanted on the rent/trade board and found someone interested.

It will be harder for OKW because rooms are often available there after 7 months but maybe there will be someone looking for a grand villa who needs the 11 month window?

Are there any potential pitfalls I should be aware of when making reservations for someone else and allowing someone else to make reservations for me?
