Transfer future points

Here is our situation. We own at OKW. Bought our first contract a lomg time ago - 230 pts with June UY. We love Disney and go there a lot. Then we bought an OKW resale a few years later - 50 pts April UY. Over the years we have used both contracts but to be honest, it has become a hassel to keep track of both contracts. We do it but it would be so much more convenient if we had all the pts in one OKW June UY contract.
I know I could try to sell the 50 pt April UY contract and then, if and when available, buy another one at OKW with a June UY. But that involves work and will cost $$.
I wonder if I could list those 50 pts as a transfer for all remaining years and find another OKW June UY owner who is willing to make that exchange. Would this work and how would I go about listing this?

I don't have any experience with transferring points between members, but it seems like it would be just as much of a hassle as transferring the points to yourself. Since your UY's are only 2 months apart, can't you just transfer the smaller point contract into the larger one every year and then just use the points as you normally would? I know that your April contract points would still have to be banked by 11/30, instead of 1/31. If you would transfer a 50 point June UY from another member, you would have the same banking date, but I don't see how it would make things that much easier.

My interest in this subject stems from the fact that we just bought a 50 point contract with an Aug UY and our first contract has a December UY. I am trying to wrap my mind around how we will transfer the points and use them effectively. It is definitely confusing, and if I had the chance to get a small contract with a December UY, I would have jumped on it.

Maybe you could find someone in the opposite situation at you and figure about a way to exchange the small contracts. Probably a needle in a haystack issue there. :scratchin:scratchin

Disney only allows you to transfer once, in or out of your membership per UY.

And, Disney only allows current and next UY points to be transferred. For example, I am in my June 2010 UY right now. I could transfer 2010 UY or 2011 UY points. That would use up both my 2010 and 2011 UY.

I can not transfer my 2012 UY points until I enter my 2011 UY.

So, it would not work.

Have you called your DVC rep to see if you can trade or what other options you have with them? They may be able to help.

Every year you can transfer your 50 pts into your other account. They are 2 separate memberships, therefore they will be ok for the one transfer in or out per year.

It would be much simplier to transfer to yourself once every other year. You can transfer 2 years of points on 1 call. Calling once every other year.

What about using banking / borrowing for your 50 point contract ? then every other year you'd have 100 pts or every third yr 150 pts on April UY contract.

Transferring points to/from yourself as others here have said, is probably your best option overall. I just don't see that another member is going to want to enter into a long term transfer agreement. Also, you'd need to alternate the sending-receiving of points because each year the transfer would use both yours & that members 1x per UY transfer option, the arrangement would not really simplify anything. And points that are transferred still keep their original Use Year (& Home Resort) so your April UY points transferred to another member's June UY contract doesn't make them June UY points; they'd still be April UY points with Nov. banking deadline, etc so no real advantage for the member to receive 50 April UY pts every other year.

:)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I would like to find that needle in a haystack and then do an outright swap with that other owner. My OKW April UY 50 pts for their OKW June UY 50 pts. Pay ing a one time title transfer cost would be an ideal option. Anyone know how to find that needle? :)

I guess I would like to find that needle in a haystack and then do an outright swap with that other owner. . . .Anyone know how to find that needle? :)

In light of the changes regarding resales after 3/20, you may want to check with member administration to make sure such a swap would retain all of the same rights as your current contract. I don't know if such a swap would be looked at as a "resale" in DVC's view.

Good luck finding that needle. I suspect these boards are good place to start your search for that perfect match!!:thumbsup2
