Mid stay we are transferring from WL to AKL. We have a car that we will also have to move. Would you recommend going to a park in the morning and then going over to AKL, or would you go straight there and then go to a park. I can't seem to get the logistics of this to work out right. I thought we could either go ahead and go over to AKL and maybe eat at Boma's for breakfast and then head to BB. But then we will probably want to get out again to go to Epcot or MGM that night and I can't decide if that is all to hectic.

The other option might be to go to MGM in the morning and then head over to AKL mid day. Then go out to Epcot or MGM that night. What would you do?? We will have already spent 3 days at MK and one day at MGM. We will be at AKL for 4 nights and plan on hitting AK while we are there, so I don't think we want to go there on our transfer day.

Planning experts please give your advice.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

It depends on how your family does getting up in the morning. I almost always get up early and if switching resorts I load the car and drive over to the new resort and check in. If my room is available (I had a room ready at CSR at 7:15 once) I move in. If not I take of to go do stuff. Be prepared to be busy until 3:00 as your room may not be ready until then. BB would be a good choice because you wouldn't have to hurry quite as much since it opens at 10:00.
Your plans don't sound to hectic to me but only you know if it is too much for you and your family. If you are feeling like it might be perhaps you should plan a different activity for that day and then just hang out at the resort in the evening.

I always do it first thing in the am because I like to have the option of the room being ready early, being first for my room request to be met or an upgrade. :p

Sounds like first thing is best. I'm glad it doesn't sound to hectic to you DAANNZZ. Maybe we will do BB then.

MAGICinMYHEART--I've always wondered if the early bird gets the worm as far as room requests go. I am checking in fairly late in the day on the Friday before into WL. I hope that doesn't mean we are less likely to get a good room.

They will meet your reservation, but any request like bunk beds, near elevator, may not be available because they already have guest assigned to them, but I always figure they have more options the earlier you arrive...plus they have more upgrades available. If your not happy with the room you receive you can also ask what would be available the next morning, then do a quick room change...:p

 We will be changing from Pop Century to AKL when we go in Nov. Does Disney take our luggage from one resort to the other so we can spend the day in the park and then go to AKL at the end of the day? How does it work when you go from one resort to the other?????

Yes. Disney will move your luggage. Tell them at check in at the POP that when you check out you are moving to AKL. They will tell you how they handle it. Usually, on the morning you are checking out you will call Bell Services and tell them you are moving to AKL and to to come get your luggage. Once they have it you can go do what you want. When you check in at AKL they should have your luggage and once you get to your room you can call to have it brought up.

Cruisingmama-

We just did a split stay btw WL and YC, and the resort transferred our luggage. We just called the bellhop the day we checked out and told them we were transferring to the YC. Someone came and picked up our luggage from our room and gave us a ticket, and we just went to the parks. At the end of the day we went to the YC, checked in and handed over the ticket, and our luggage was delivered to our room! Painless!

Hope this helps,
~:sunny:

At Pop they request you call the night before you are leaving or transfering.

Q: Will Pop Century have Bell Services?
Upon arrival, Pop Century will offer Luggage Assistance for our guests. Not to be confused with "Bell Services" found at Deluxe resorts, Luggage Assistance will take your luggage, and store it while you enter the lobby and check in. Your luggage will then be automatically delivered to your room within an hour of it becoming available. You do not need to be in the room for luggage to be delivered, so you can go off and play in the parks. When you get back, your luggage will already be there. We will have refrigerators for food and medical usage. (All food *MUST* be factory sealed) We will also have a locked area for valuables such as laptops, cameras, and other electronics.

When checking out, we can come and pick up your luggage, and store it until you are ready to depart. We do ask that you give us a call the night before, to arrange a pick up time. If you call day of, we may not have any availability left. We require a minimum of one hours notice. Those of you who opt for Express Checkout will receive a voice mail reminding you of this option, as well as other Express Checkout info. By the way, the voice of Express Checkout is the same voice that does the Monorail Spiel.

You do not need to be in your room for drop off or pick up.

Should you wish to handle your own luggage, we offer the use of our hand carts. (Not the "bird cages," but push carts) Usage of the carts is free, however, we will require a credit card on file, should you decide to take one home as a souvenir. We also do ask that guests limit cart usage to 30 minutes, so that other guests may use them as well.
