I have a ressie for the land/sea package in May. I intend to go a day early and stay at a value resort for one night then transfer to the Poly for my 3 nights. What is the procedure for having Disney transfer my luggage while I take the Disney transportation to the Poly? Has anyone had any problems doing this? Is the luggage ever "lost"? If I check in at the Poly then go to MK, where will my luggage be kept?

Don't know about the transfers but when we checked into the Coronado Springs after our cruise, our room wasn't ready yet so they stored our luggage in a special storeroom operated by the bell hops. Since they do this ALL THE TIME, I'm sure your luggage would be secure if you wanted to store it at the Poly overnight.

I believe you have to transport your own luggage if you are changing resorts.

We checked into the Wilderness Lodge and needed to move out of our room as their were problems with it...they had no more rooms available so we switched to the Yacht Club....we had to take our own luggage with us.. when we asked they told us they do not transfer luggage from resort to resort as standard policy.
We had our own car so I was no big deal.

There will no problem once you arrive at the Poly....they will hold your luggage in a storage room and give you a claim ticket. You just call bell services when you finally get to your room and they will deliver up to room.

Just don't expect Disney to transfer your luggage from one resort to the other.

I don't believe that is true. As a matter of policy they actually DO transfer luggage between resorts as far as I know (and DW I know has done this on a couple trips). The only time that has been reported as a problem is transferring to and from Swan/Dolphin sometimes because of their less formal status in the resort network.

We do this every trip. We usually start at All Star Music and then move on to PO Riverside. Our luggage is picked up at our room when we're ready to go, and we head out for our day, which includes stopping to check in at PO Riverside. When we come back at the end of the day, our room is ready, and our luggage is either in the room waiting for us or just a phone call away. On one trip, we changed resorts three times before we left for our cruise!

We have switched hotels several times. They DO move your luggage for you. And only once did they lose something. My mother's carry-on was missing. Disney replaced it for cash value.
