Hi! We're thinking of renting points for a weekday stay at AKV 8/16-21 and transfering to POR for the weekend. Does anyone know if Disney will do the transfer since one is DVC and one isn't? If they do, and we aren't there at the time, how does one tip? How much would you tip per carry-on size bag (we'd have 5 bags max)? Also, if you have any comments on a rental experience you have had, pos. or neg., I'd be interested to read them (already read Dani and Stacey's nightmare of a few years ago).

Wishing for the best! (but still saving my 3 wishes)

Thanks!!!

Yes, bell services will transfer to any Disney hotel.

We have transfered our baggage twice (once from Poly and once from WL both times moving over to the BCV's). Both times we had 4 large suitcases and two carry on's. I believe we tipped $2 a bag. We tipped Bell Services at both resorts (it does add up!)
We call down for our baggage after we check in. It's always worked out well.
Also, we have rented points for the past 3 years and have never had a bad experience. Good Luck! :thumbsup2

You are transferring between 2 WDW resorts, it would not matter that one was a DVC reservation.

Thanks! Do you have to wait for bell services to come pick up the bags, take them downstairs to the desk if you don't want to wait, or will they pick them up from your room if you aren't there, in which case you wouldn't see the bellman so whom do you tip on the 1st half of the transfer? Man, the convolutions of tipping etiquette!

Thanks again!

I think they will give you a bag claim ticket, so I would wait for the bellman.

We have always waited for the bellman to come up to our room. We tip him then. And yes, I do believe you get a ticket for your bags. :)

Call Bell Services as soon as you get up...and are close to ready to leave for the day. I usually give them a call at 7:30 or so. Then, they get there by 8:00 and I can hand over my bags. They won't come if you aren't in your room....so plan on being there. That's why I do it as early as I can.
Keep anything you may want later that afternoon...swim suit or such..with you. I have had to wait until after 5:30 every single time I have had Disney move my bags.
I usually tip about $2 per bag....a bit more if I have a lot of bags, but it's usually no more than three bags being moved.
Then, you have to tip on the other end as well, in order to get the bags brought to your room.
