Transfer and banking - making first reservation

I am hoping to transfer 2020 points (Oct UY) to my account for a trip in March 2022 (our contract is also Oct UY). These points once transferred need to be banked by end of May.

Because we would be booking in the 2021 UY, the transferred points would need to be banked prior to making the reservation in order to use those points... correct? Otherwise it would pull from our regular 2022 UY points allocation first?

So when I get the points, we bank then book?

Am I understanding that correctly? Just want to make sure I make this first reservation correctly! Many thanks!

If I am reading this correctly, yes. You get the points via the transfer from the other person’s account into your Oct UY, bank, and then they will be ready for use in the Oct 2021 UY, and will need to be used by September 30, 2022.

Just be aware that transferred points are not bookable online during the home resort booking window, even if the same resort

You still have to call. Once you are booking 7 months or less, then they can be used online.

It appears they set the system up like this to prevent people from getting home resort priority from OTU points that can now be modified online.

However, what you can do, if booking at 11 months is book just the nights you can with your own 2021 points, and then call at 9 am and have MS finish the rest of the trip using those points.

For the record, in case anyone finds this later, when I was on the line with the other member to do the point transfer, they were able to bank the points for me - and then I was able to book online.

My 2 bedroom at CCV for March 2022 is booked. Woo!

Just to clarify, you were able to use the transferred points online to complete an 11 month reservation? If so, that is an update to the system!

Yes - once they banked the points for me, I was able to see them when I was booking online - was able to select that contract first, then my own contracts points for the remainder. And now our 2 bedroom for our trip with friends is booked!

That is great news! For the longest time, transferred points, even if the same home resort as what someone owned, could not be used when booking online during the home resort booking period!

This will make it easier and less owners will have to call to use!
