i've been working with a dreams unlimited agent for an upcoming trip, but i'd like to book today and i'm thinking i might not hear back from her today, today being the super bowl and all. if i book directly through disney, can i transfer the reservation to dreams unlimited later so they get the appropriate credit?

I am sure you can. You will have to sign off or give approval to Disney. But it can be done. The DU agent cannot do it. You will have to.

Yes, you can. We booked the bounceback with Disney in September and then we got home transferred it to our TA.

I personally cannot find a good reason to ever book a package with a travel agent unless you llike for them to do your ADRs and such. A cruise, yes thats the only way to go. Is there any ways to get extra savings through a travel agent. I book our first package and our cruise through Small World and they were great, but as far as the last one I booked it directly with Disney. Is there something I still missing?

I don't think you are missing anything. We've used our TA (who is terrific) for our last six visits. She will watch for new discounts and get it switched; she does all of our ADR's and changes them for me (I'm know to change my mind about meals frequently); she watches for free dining for us, etc.

I am not sure why you would do the leg work and then transfer it either? Unless, of course, you are friends with the TA. If that was the case though I would wait and let him or her book it.

Yes, you can do that. We did that for our March trip and the 4/3 deal. We booked with Disney online over a weekend and then switched it over to our favorite Dreams agent during the next week. We had to fax a signed approval statement; it was no big deal to do. The reason we didn't wait to book with Dreams is that we didn't want to risk losing availabity at our resort of choice. It is a good thing we went ahead and booked initially with Disney because by Monday morning, our room choice was sold out at the discount. Dream's agents tend to work Mon-Fri.

Yes, you can transfer it, if you book today. Or she can re-book tomorrow as well since you would not have made a payment to Disney yet. I will easy just to duplicate your booking with just a few click of the "MOUSE", as long as everything you want is still available. Then you dont' have to send the transfer letter of such.
It nice that you are being loyal to your TA, after all I'm sure she has helped you in someway to this point. Clients just need to understand that TA do not charge more for their services so I think smart shopper will stick to travel agents and why not a friend by your side...never know just when you might need them.

Case in point, I had a client who had to cancel last minute and they with in penalty due to medical reasons, I called and asked to our TA support desk/sales rep if Disney coudl please waive the the fees. They looked my sales accounts and see's that a active and productive Disney TA so the Manager waived all penalties for clients. Saved the client lots of $$...and then a full refund was provided to client. Even though I knew that if client cancel booking, I was not going to get paid one cent of all previous work, it did not stop my from helping her out in this matter. The clients are happy and thankful for my extra services. Since then they rebooked and can't stop recommending me to their friends and family! Free service and personalized care. Why would you not want to book with a TA then ?

Yes! You are missing something for sure....As a part-time TA and stay home mom. I know that most of my other TA friends take good care of their client's bookings, watching out discounts and perks, etc. Not only that, I've always provided some extra gifts to my clients and surprises, as a "Thank You" gift. Often I provide a Disney gift card up $ 50 for the kids to do some shopping while WDW. After all if Mom has done most of her own booking....or if MOMs already knows what they want to do, and when they want go and where to stay, it save us time to research so if the booking is easy for us, we're more than happy to share the incentive and help make the trip a little bit more magical for the family. It dosen't not cost you more either way. When by-pass a TA, Disney doesn't give you a discount either. The price remains the same.....Lucky for Disney that they just keep the extra profits to themselves, rather then pay TA commission. By going through a travel agent you help in a small way by allowing someone to have a job and they will give back in more ways than one, especially to loyal customers who appreciate them!

Thank you to those who do support your local agent...we're here at your service for FREE, that's why disney pays us commission. If you don't like to use a travel agent...become One yourself since you're doing all the work and not getting anything for it. We, Disney TA get discounts for working hard and get pay commission for helping our clients make the booking. Ofter we helpout in so many ways. We are the first ones to know of promotions and specials....we quickly can revised your booking on the lower rate once Disney gives us Advance noticed. Otherwise once the news get out to the public it could be gone before you hear about it. Our job is to help you find the best deal first and foremost, it's your repeat business that counts and not just the one time booking. My clients are spoiled with more and more perks, for each repeat business or referral these bring to me! It's rewarding to have a TA by yourside, as long as you find the right one for you and your needs.

I just wanted to share...
Thanks for asking the questions.

Just doing a survey....can you share ?

Does your TA ever has provided extra onboard gifts as you sailed away on your cruise ?

If so, other folks should know it pays to have a loyal TA by your side.
Thank you!

I'm usually not this active in the chat thing but it's super bowl and I don't have interest in that, so here is my fun time...providing some feedback from the desk of Stayhome mom/part time TA. Usually I just read everything on these post and gain much more knowleadge and get the public feedback on everything Disney. Later, I am able to use this knowledge, along with my own personal experience and put it to work in helpling someone else have a wonderful vacation. From the love of doing this, I'm able to provide my family with several family vacations and support my own small business operation. I'm not part of Dreams or other big agencies. Just little ol' stay home mom who knows how to plan and book a disney vacation and I turned it into my work at home dream job. It's rewarding to me and my family, as we are able to enjoy many trips to WDW and Disney Cruise Line. My clients get the advance know how and tips that I've learned so that they won't miss out on anything!
Many of you coudl do this too...all it takes is the passion for travel and love of Disney products!

I went with a TA and she did book my ADRs, but that's about it. I haven't heard from her since I paid the bill.

I did ask whether she looked for codes, saving money, etc. She said she did. She is friendly enough and usually gets back to me within hours if I email her.

I don't know if I'll go with a TA if I do a bounceback.

We've never done a cruise. But my TA sends me a gift with my final paperwork every trip. And I always send her something on my return for the great job she has done for me! :goodvibes

Since it costs you nothing to work with Dreams, and this agent has been working with you, I think it is admirable that you are transferring it. :thumbsup2

With the economy the way it is, these small businesses need support. The support comes in the way of bookings since they do not work on an hourly salary, but on commission.

Your support of Dreams is one of the things that keeps these boards going. So to all the people who say "Oh, I do it myself, I get all the info here" The info is here because it is paid for by the sponsors.

Mousesavers is in part paid for by Small World, Intercot is sponsored by Magical Journeys, etc. They are the ones who make HERE (whichever here you use) possible.

Support the people who provide your playgrounds.

Wow, these are some great points. I guess my next trip I will let Small World get a slice of the pie. Thanks ya'll.
