I've read several posts suggesting that if you are planning to do a Disney Cruise & a Disney Resort Vacation, it is often more economical to book them separately. If you book your land and sea portions of a Disney vacation separately, what is the best way to arrange for travel to/from the port/resort/airport?

Thanks!

It depends on the number of people in your group if you are looking primarily at cost. For more than two, it is typically cheaper (and LOTS more convenient) to book a towncar or limo. We have used Happy Limo many times, both from WDW and from the airport, and we like the fact that we can go on our own schedule without waiting or being in the middle of a large crowd of people. The resort buses tend to leave kind of late, so it's nice to have a towncar to leave a little earlier and arrive before the bus crowd (this also helps with getting a good spot in line to board early and get Palo and spa ressies). Otherwise, you can book the bus separately, even though you are not doing land/sea.

We booked our own "land" so we could get the Disney Club discounts. We are doing the land part first.

There are 6 of us, and we knew we wanted to rent a car at least for the last day since we have a late flight back. We were patient, watched the web specials, checked the discount codes on www.mousesavers.com and it paid off.

We are renting a minivan for a week and parking it at the port for the 4 day cruise, and it is still cheaper than taking the DCL bus twice (from the airport to WDW and from WDW to port) and renting a car for 1 day.

I'm sure it depends on the time of year, too. Good luck!

Pink Flamingo, Check the Transportation board! I learned a lot from that board about car rental, shuttle service, etc. HTH, Linda
