Help! Anyone know the best/cheapest way to get from Airport to Pop Century? DH and I are arriving on a Thursday night at 10:30 in September. Do you purchase round trip fare or is it better to pay each way? We are leaving DD at home for this anniversary trip so it would just be fare for 2 adults. princess:

Cheapest for two? Mears. Best? One of the towncar services. Tiffany, Florida Towncars, etc. Do a DIS search on car services. There are several good ones. They'll meet you at baggage claim & whisk you away to POP. I'm not sure about a grocery stop at that late hour.

You really can't have "best" and "cheapest".
The cheapest for two would be Mears. It can be a harrowing experience, then again maybe not. No way to know for sure. Mears normally loads a bus with people going to any number of other resorts so there is no way of knowing when you will get to your hotel.
The best is one of the many towncar services. They will pick you up (and only you) at the airport baggage area. I have read other posts that some grocery stores are open 24 hours so you can request a stop at one of those on the way to your hotel.
Mears will not give you a grocery stop.
Check out FL Tours (sponsor of this site), Tiffany Town Cars, Happy Limo, etc.
There are many posts about the various services. Most of them are very good and reliable.

Cheapest for 2 would be Mears. The best is a towncar. Taking a bus could cost you time by stopping at the other resorts to drop off others. So is it cheaper?

I just reserved a towncar with www.transportation2disney.com round trip to take me to Pop in Oct. They offer a 30 min. store stop and a picture stop at the entrance to WDW. $80.00 round trip + tip.

Tnkrbelle565, In the same boat. We only need one way transp. Coming in at 10:00 pm, DD and I and going to POP.

I don't think I want to take mears and maybe still be at MCO at 11:30pm waiting for them to go.

Have done FL Tours and been happy but with one way fare at $55 + $10 tip=$65. That just seems too much.

Was wondering if anyone has current info on cab fare?

What to do???

Sharon

Well, we used to do Mears. We probably won't ever do it again. Just too much hassle when everyone is anxious to get to the parks. Plus, our last bus driver was complaining to everyone that he was't getting enough tips.

Next 2 trips we used Tiffany Towncar. Very reliable & great service. However, I was surprised when we made ressies for Sept how much their rates had gone up (& so had the other towncar co's.) I booked them after comparing many prices & decided we felt best going with them.

Well, yesterday I cancelled my ressie w/Tiffany & now we are booking a rental car from National. We are doing the Quick Rent - which is supposed to be pretty painless at the airport. We will drive to POP, check-in & unload our bags & then return the rental to the Dolphin Resort. Then on check-out day p/u a car from the Dolphin Resort, check out of POP & head to the aiport. We got this for a total of $74 - about $36 cheaper than the towncar service would've been (including the tips & all.)

Wish I'd learned about this idea before. ;) Seems like a great plan - hoping it all works out this easily. HTH! :)

Thanks for all the responses. We were just debating taking a cab because we DEFINATELY didn't want to deal with the hassle of MEARS at that time of night. Anyone have any ideas of the cab rates? Sounds like the towncar might end up being the best bet if the cabs are around the same price. We aren't planning a grocery store stop but just the same, I'd rather get some sleep before hitting the parks early the next day.

THANKS AGAIN to all you experts!!! Last time I was at Disney Epcot was just being built!princess:

Taxi fare from MCO to Disney World resorts is generally about $40 one way on average. Plus any graturity you add.

When we were still flying to WDW, we flew into Tampa or MCO. We would rent a car one way when we got there and one way back when we were leaving.

It is SO much nicer to control your own fate on the highways than hand it over to some crazy van driver! :)

We usually rented with Dollar. We had to drop it off on Hotel Plaza Boulevard, but it was well worth the walk to Downtown Disney.
