I got all my days for our August trip :goodvibes and the wait is killing me. my question is how reliable is the transportation from the resort to the parks? When we were there in late sept (just for dinner at whispering) the line for the boat to mk was very long and people were saying how long they were waiting. Is this the norm or was it a fluke? With a dd who will be three we hope to use the boat to go back and forth to mk a lot. Dw is not a fan of the busses so I do not know if that will even be an issue. Thanks a bunch. :wave2:

I know that a lot of people, maybe even most people, think that the WL boat is great. Not me, though. We waited a long time for the boat to arrive, which is probably just bad luck. But then it went to Fort Wilderness. Once it had unloaded and reloaded, we went to MK. And the boats move really slowly so it seemed to take forever to get there. We weren't in a rush, so we could handle it, but still it was a looong trip.

It can be OK if you're in the mood for a leisurely boat trip, or treat it as another attraction. But you said that you are planning to "go back and forth to MK a lot," and I think you will be disappointed.

There is usually more than one boat making the loop from MK-FW-WL, so if you don't get on the first one, there will be another one along in a few minutes. In the morning, the boats travel from MK->FW->WL and after 3:00 PM they go MK->WL->FW. MK opening and closing is usually the most crowded times for the boats to and from WL. Generally, I'd count on the boats taking 20-40 minutes ( wait and travel time ). The bus is a short 5 minute ride from WL and is actually much faster than the boats, though again the wait times could be 20 minutes or so.

Have a great trip!

OMG, take the bus!!! We were there last August and the busses to MK came often and got us there so quickly! Less than 10 minutes from VWL to MK. I thought it was way easier than the boat. ;)

we were atthe WLV in September of last year. Wehad always enjoyed the boat ride to the MK inprevious years. However, last year wasn' t that great. We waited for a half hour for the boat to arrive, and sometimes it was already full to capacity. I have no idea why they bothered to stop at the WL. This usually happened during the morning and later in the afternoon, except that the boatwas full approaching the campgrounds from the WL. I sure hope that it was just a one time thing, and that things will be better when we return this September.

Good to know. Maybe we will try the bus going and the boat coming home.

We stayed at FW twice last year and always had good experiences with the boat. It's one of our favourite aspects of WL and FW. We treat it as part of the journey and don't rush.

However they will be busy right at park closing and you may have to wait a while.

We just got back and never had a wait more than 5 minutes for a boat anywhere. We thought it was a wonderful, relaxing way to get places. We went to Ohanas twice and Konas once, and everytime we took the boat to the Contemporary and then the monorail to the Poly. Of course this is definitely not a popular time to go, but we had a great time.

We noticed how long we had to wait for the boats last September too. We had ADRs at Whispering Canyon on this last trip (a couple of weeks ago) and decided to take the boat back and from from the MK. They seemed to be running more frequently.
