Trampoline question

Does anyone know if a trampoline has to have a completely flat surface to work right? We have a yard with a gradual incline. In some places it is flatter than others, but I'm just not wanting to put out the $ if it won't work in our yard.

We have ours on a gradual slope in the backyard - please make sure you have the safety net. My DH just made it more level by digging out part of the ground where the bottom posts are. It works much better.

I would never put my trampoline on any surface that wasn't completely flat. They are dangerous enough without adding an incline!!! Also, get a net and establish rules..........one at a time!! My girls love the trampoline and are competitive cheerleaders so they use it all the time and with safety!!!

F.Y.I. -- If you have homeowners insurance you might to check your policy as some companies exclude coverage for any liability claims involving trampolines. Make sure you know what you're getting into...especially if your house is the one all the neighborhood kids hang out at.

We don't let anyone but our DS or I guess DH on the trampoline!! Well my sis & BIL were jumping on it last summer-- but they'd be responsible for themselves if they got hurt. I don't want any liability issues so neighboorhood kids. DS also knows what is and isn't allowed on it. As for ground-- I'd really level a spot out. I think ours might have a 1-2 inch difference all around but wouldn't trust much more.

I am not expert, but I would assume that level ground would be best.

When My DD was in the hospital for her Appendix we met a 10 year old boy who had about 12 staples across his forehead. I asked what happened and he said he was jumping and did a forward flip and hit his head on a spring. His foster family said you could not see his head for all the blood. He had to have a piece of skull removed to releive pressure to his head.

I did some more research about trampolines in general and we're not getting one. Thanks for all of the replies!

We just got one today and that sounds like our yard to gradual slope and it doesn't seem to be a problem so far we also have the enclosure for around ours it is only a 12 footer but our kids are still under the age of 8 so it is big enough for them.

Our neighbors just got one, without the safety net. They don't have a fence and it's not in the back yard! Our kids have been instructed never to jump on it. Our kids were the only ones not allowed to jump at the babysitter's house, too. Guess we're just meanies!

Being in the insurance business I've just heard too many stories.


Calypso is right, you better check your HO policy because some companies will cancel you right off the bat if they know you have a trampoline.
