Week of 10/10 - 10/16
This week proved why fall is my favorite season. The weather was absolutely perfect every day.
I only wish the days were longer or my commute was shorter so that I could have done all my runs outside!Meanwhile, in W&D weekend-related news, my pretty purple magic band arrived, the courses were leaked (super excited for the 10K, meh on the half), I found my bib number (guessing corral B for the half based on Dark Side), and I didn't get the email with information about the gift card that comes with registration (wonder if I'll get the email with the actual electronic gift card?).
Monday: 3 miles/26:29
On the treadmill at work, not outside in the pretty, pretty weather.
Tuesday: 3.4 miles/30:00
Tempo run
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 3.5 miles/30:42
Because of scheduling stuff this week, Wednesday was a rest day and not a work-from-home, run-outside day, so I had to do my "longer" mid-week easy run on the treadmill as well.
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 4 miles/34:09
Sweet, sweet outdoor running perfection. High 40s for the morning run felt great. My easy run pace picked up by about 15 seconds/mile just based on the ideal conditions. Level of effort still felt the same.
Also enjoyed gorgeous fall weather for the afternoon out in the country. I just wanted to bottle this day up.
Sunday: 0.85 miles/7:15
My long run was a big bust. I had 9 miles on the schedule but I was out way past my bedtime visiting with some friends from high school who were in town. I also did not drink nearly enough water on Saturday. I woke up in the morning feeling yucky - sleepy and dehydrated. Hoping it's just that and not coming down with a cold or something. I forced myself out of bed and got dressed to run, but as soon as I started to run, my body was like, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" So I did a U-turn and went home (and in the afternoon took an almost 2-hour nap). If I had more time, I probably would have walked or (walked/run if I started feeling better) the 9 miles, but I had to go pick up the dog from an overnight at daycare when it opened in the morning so I didn't have time to really slow down the pace much. And I just really, really wasn't feeling it. This is the first long run I have missed in 5+ months, so I'm not terribly concerned from a training perspective, I just can't let it be a habit, especially a month or so from now when marathon training starts.
Mushu enjoyed all the great weather this week, too (much better than the rain)!

I'll wrap it up next week and then I'm thinking about taking a shot at an actual trip report (which will hopefully be more interesting than just my week-to-week training).

That part of the race is in an area I'm not super familiar with (I've run through it during several races, but that's about it). I knew where I wanted to be but couldn't quite figure out how to get there in an area with lots of tall buildings and minimal sidewalks. So I had to stop a couple of times and consult Google maps but eventually I figured it out. I got to the southernmost point on the course and no runners had arrived yet so I ran a little further up until I hit the 6 mile point in my run. I found a good spectating spot just before the 35K mark and Mile 22. There's a turnaround shortly after, so I was also directly across the street from Mile 23.

, ran across the street and asked to take their picture:

Way to go. Off to check out your trip report!!
