Training, Rain and ECVs

I finally convinced my mother to rent an ECV because of walking issues. Thanks for all of your help on this! Now I am worried about renting from the right place for her. I rented from Buena Vista, because it was on the approved list. But now I wonder if I should rent from somewhere like Walker because they can show her how to work it? She hasn't used one and although I suggested she try out the ones at Target, I am not sure she will.

My last question, is because I know we are going in July, we are to expect at least afternoon showers. What on the ECV needs to be protected and what do you use to cover that part? Like our stroller years ago, we plan on covering it when we go into rides/shows because we know the rain can creep up while inside!

my friend has an ECV and she covers the thing you use to steer and the throdel that makes it move with a poncho or a plastic bag when it rains some models you can use a shower cap for this ( her you can not do this with) you may want to cover the set ( more for comfort for her)

I bought a proper rain cape for a scooter a couple of years ago but am thankful that it hasn't been out of its bag yet. I call it my insurance policy! lol

We're coming over in August, and the fact that we could well get an hour of rain every afternoon does worry me a bit. No scooter is happy in a torrential downpour, but I'm hoping that if I do have to 'christen' my scooter poncho it'll be worth it. Because of the design, only my face isn't covered, so I should technically be able to pop my head under, put my ordinary rain poncho on and, as long as I fold the head bit down carefully the scooter should stay completely covered.

But the guy delivering my scooter back in November (who incidentally delivered it during drizzle) said I shouldn't worry about what to do in rain, as it will keep going. He didn't even recommend I covered the tiller! But I suppose it depends on the design and make - I get a Victory Pride which is pretty much a sealed unit.

But even though we were asked to leave the scooter outside when we got to BoG, I asked if I could bring it in as it was still cloudy and it could have rained again. They said yes and I left it in the foyer, but I was lucky and the rain moved away not to reappear again that week.

unlike a stroller ECVs go into shows. but I would make sure when she is on ECV her poncho covers both her and the back of seat so rain does not go down the seat. the ones I have rented have come with a shower cap to cover controls. even on most rides her ECV can come with her thru the line which I would do as she will be able sit while in line plus will be out of sunshine heating seat or the rain

I think I remember reading about ECVs and lines; maybe in the pinned post. I will have to go back and read through. Thanks for the reminder! I am more nervous about this than she is- I just want her to enjoy herself. She is looking at this like "her last trip" while I am looking it as a new way to tour, that is all.

if she is like me the ECV will make it easier to tour. as you say a different way to tour and I would take it with you anywhere you can. and she will always have a seat to rest in while in line. there is special seating in most shows with seating for you either next to or right in front of her. have a great trip
