We are trying to plan a late May/early June trip back to WDW with our 2 DDs. Even though I can get airfare for around $160 each, I'd like to save that money for our Dec. trip. So, we are thinking about driving to Raleigh, NC (about 4 hours) and then catching Amtrak to Orlando that night. My DH doesn't want to drive to WDW, but I could talk him into taking the train. (He's a huge train buff, and so is my younger DD) We have friends who live in Raleigh, so we could visit with them in the afternoon before the train leaves. My daughters will be 6 and almost 4 at that time. My cost for the 4 of us would be less than one plane ticket. We could stay on Disney property and use Disney transportation, so there would not be a need for a rental car. And we have APs.

Has anyone done anything like this with kids. Any advice?
TIA

Have you looked at the amtrak site? There is some info there. Could you get 2 Viewliner Roomettes, so that you will have your own bathrooms and a place to rest? I always worry about that with my DD's.

I was thinking of taking amtrak from Orlando to Miami on our upcoming trip, (just so DH wouldn't have to drive) because I would love to go to the Keys.
The price is only $162 for the 4 of us, versus a flight for $1000 or so. :wave2: I still may........
