DH thinks it would be great for DS to have a train table for his Geotrax set. His Geotrax set when fully set up is probably too big for any train table but I guess this would allow him to have a place to store his pieces and allow him to build smaller tracks.

Does anyone have a good train table recommendation for Geotrax? One that has a good size top and decent storage.

Thanks!

Just bumping because I'm interested in this, too. We're getting GeoTrax for Jacob this Christmas, and I never even considered a train table. I'm excited about playing with the GeoTrax. I keep trying to invent a reason why I'd need to get them out now and play with them. :)

I don't think a train table would work very well with GeoTrax -- the sets are too big for most traditional sized tables. We have a table for Cam's Brio train stuff, but the GeoTrax is in our basement, because it takes up too much space.

We bought a couple large Rubbermaid containers to hold the GeoTrax stuff when it's not being played with.

We did the exact same thing. We have giant tubs that hold the Geos. We have a train table for his Thomas stuff.

I haven't been too thrilled with the whole train table thing. IMO on the surface it seems like a great idea but we've almost universally found that it's too small to hold our creations easily. The storage is nice but all and all I haven't found it as useful as I thought I would.

I agree about the train table -- we do use all the storage bins underneath the table, but whenever Cameron makes a creation with his track, he always seems to end up doing in on the floor because they're much too long/wide for the table. So our train table ends up being somewhere he puts other stuff, like Hot Wheels (those lame one-purpose sets).

We made our own for Brio track when our son was little. We took four shelving units that were about 18 inches square that had shelves in them. Then we had a piece of plywood cut to the size we wanted. I covered the plywood with green felt and inlaid blue felt areas for lakes and rivers. Then there was lots of room to build the track however he liked. You can round the corners of the plywood.
