We went to the Worlds Greatest Hobby on Tour (train show) today in Hampton VA because our DSs love trains. They especially love Disney trains, know all of their names, etc. So we walk up to the booth marked Walt Disney Train History and there is a nice couple there talking to folks, selling books, etc. The name on a table sign said Michael Broggie. So I was thinking, "Wow, that name is familiar." Then I rememebered the train named Roger Broggie. It ends up this gentleman is the son of Roger Broggie, the first Imagineer. He and his wife Sharon were so kind and friendly. They also run a foundation to preserve the personal railroad legacy of Walt Disney. It is called the Carolwood foundation. www_carolwood_org . They open up Walt's Barn in California for tours periodically. Sharon was nice enough to take a picture of our family with Michael. He said he was about our 7-year-old's age when he was riding trains with Walt Disney. What a lovely surprise to have met them! We ended up purchasing a limited edition framed pin set that has a picture of the Disneyland train station with a pin for each of the 4 trains and a pin of the station mounted within the picture. So cool, and it is signed. The show continues through tomorrow in Hampton, and it looks like it will be in Kansas City, Missouri March 15th and 16th, and Louisville, Kentucky June 28th and 29th. The web site for the show is www_wghshow_com . He also did a presentation but unfortunately we were not able to stay long enough to see it. Just thought I'd share our own unexpected *magical moment*! (I'm also posting this on the budget board since I hang out there more often.)
