Train from airport and luggage

We had planned on taking the TVR to DLP from CDG. I keep reading comments that you shouldn't do this if you have luggage. Is this really a big issue? I can't imagine a lot of people arriving at the airport without luggage - why would they have a stop at the airport, if it's a problem to have luggage? Thanks!

What a weird piece of advice. I have never seen or encountered issues. The trains that go from the airport to Disneyland Paris often continue to the south, long distance travel. So there are always loads of people with luggage.

Its probably from Americans who are not used to hauling their own luggage on public transport. Amtrak has a checked luggage car, like at airports and there are luggage porters and buggys to help people on and off the trains and with luggage.

Is it a far walk from the arrival gates at CDG to the train? We are flying in from Berlin, will only have carryons. We are fine with stairs and luggage as in many European train stations. Just trying to see which is faster: walking to train and short train ride versus walking to shuttle pick up and longer shuttle ride?

The trouble is that CDG is a very long airport (or at least Terminal 2 is, but most flights arrive there to be honest). There are some gates that are much further away from the station than others despite technically being in the same terminal.

For example, to get from the middle of Terminal 2B to the station, I'd say was 10-15 minutes walk. But from a gate at the far end, add on another 5-10 to that. The far end of Terminal 2E's K gates I'd say was 15-20 minutes, but if you're in the L or M gates in the satellite buildings, then you've got to take the shuttle, so I'd allow 25-30 minutes in total.

You might however get lucky and end up with a gate that's only 5 minutes walk or less of course.

Thank you for this! Where would we meet a pre-arranged private shuttle? How far of a walk is that comparatively? I am starting to think we may just do the shuttle. There are 4 of us, so maybe the cost is not terrible compared to the train.

If you pre-book a private shuttle, the driver will be waiting for you holding a sign with your name on it, directly outside the exit to the baggage claim area. You'll then follow him to the short-term car park, which is only 2-3 minutes walk away.

This sounds perfect!!! Thank you so much for your quick and detailed replies!!!

Do you have a shuttle company that you like?

We are there right now (arrived Tuesday) and on this occasion used ISPrestige for our transfers and were very happy with the service.

We ended up using this company and had a seamless experience both directions! The walk from our arrival gate was 3 minutes to the nice van waiting outside the terminal. We were dropped off again right at our terminals to depart. One of our DDs was flying to Madrid and the rest of us were flying to LHR. They had no issue dropping some of us off at one terminal of CDG and then our DD at the other terminal. The driver was very nice and said he had daughters and would make sure our DD got to the right place. She is 20 and studying abroad in Berlin (the reason for our visit to Berlin, with a few days at DLP at the end!), so she can navigate airports well, but it was nice that he took the care to let us know he would make sure she was at the right place.

I did all of my bookings with them via their online form. I was unsure of what time we would head to CDG for departure day, so I only booked the return ride on the night before we needed it, and I put in the online booking around midnight! They responded by 5 am that we were confirmed. I really appreciate this.

You do need to pay in cash to the driver, so make sure you note that. There was no discount for a round trip booking.

We considered the TGV for our return to CDG, but the tickets were double the price of the shuttle for 4 of us! As well, it was cold and raining while we were there. The thought of dragging all of our luggage to the train station (about a 10 minute walk from the Marvel hotel) was also a deterrent to choosing the train.

Thanks to all who helped me with this part of the trip planning! I strongly agree with the recommendation for IS Prestige!
