Is this normal? We went to Trails End for dinner last night and it was a mess. Seriously a disgusting mess. I would not have ever expected this from a Disney restaurant. The buffet area had food all over the floor. The signs for the food choices were on the floor. There was food spilled all over the serving area. And the ice cream topping bar was horrifying. Toppings were mixed up in each other and chocolate syrup was in layers of a dripped mess all over the table.
And to top it off, we had to wait about 10 minutes in line to get to the buffet area. I have never had to wait like that at any buffet.
The food was just ok. We asked our server about the condition of the restaurant and he said this wasn't normal. I hope others have had better experiences here. Is the cleanliness of the restaurant always in such poor condition?

We went there for breakfast and dinner on two separate days a couple of weeks ago. The cleanliness was fine.

This used to be one of our favourite restaurants but we will not be going there again due to the "downgrading" of the food - quality and variation.

It was like that a few years ago when we went.. it was a peak time and later in the evening.. and it was really busy before we got there. The staff was movng !! People are just pigs ! and there are lots kids helpin themselves.

My thoughts exactly.....people are the problem....staff can only keep do what they can but the attitude of the guests to slop around are the culprits..

We went in 2009 and I won't go back-

We were there for dinner, and the food was cold, not much of it left, and it wasn't very good. Service was also slow that night.

I have eaten at Trails End a few times and never had an issue with cleanliness. I like the food there -- simple comfort food well prepared and tasty.

What you describe can happen at any buffet. I don't think it is normal anywhere at Disney and they clearly staff based on a normal/average amount of required clean-up and usually do a very good job keeping the serving areas neat. But if a group of total slobs, people who don't adequately supervise their young children, or other exceptionally messy guests happen to be in attendance at a given meal the staff may not be able to keep up with tidying the area.

Never had a complaint with the cleanliness but we had a slooooow server last time and ended up going to the self serve refillable mug fountain and helped ourselves with our mugs.

NEVER! I've eaten there many times and NEVER found it to be A mess.
Food and service were both great for lunch and dinner, One time I had to wait 10 min for a table before my beeper went off.

We eat there every trip and have never seen anything like you've described. Is it free dining now? That's the only time Trail's End gets crazy. People go there who are going because that was the only thing available.

I experienced the same thing as you described at Cape May for dinner. People are pigs and when they go for free dining they are just trying to stuff their face with as much food because it's "free". For as much as I love Disney, restaurants have made me hate people LOL. They have no idea how to act civilized. Just because it's a buffet doesn't mean it's a trough.

Sorry you experienced that. Trail's End is our only must-do every trip. But we avoid it like the plague during Free Dining (and every other buffet for that matter).
