I am helping some friends plan their first trip to WDW this fall. They are staying at Pop Century, but are planning to spend the day at AK, then come to Fort Wilderness in the evening for the Campfire/Singalong. They will need to get some (counter service) dinner at some point. I am trying to put together some options.

I know that Trails-End-To-Go offers a bucket of chicken dinner or a pizza, which might be good options for them. However, is there anyplace to eat it it if you get it from the To-Go area? (Picnic tables, etc.)

(Disclaimer: I have tried using the search feature but wasn't able to find the info I was looking for, so I'm starting a new thread. If I've missed something please feel free to direct me to an older thread.)

I cannot fully remember if there are any picnic tables near Pioneer Hall, but there are tables and chairs that are located on the beach. They are not far from Pioneer Hall, but can be a bit busy in that area in the evening.

Thanks! It's been a few years since I stayed at FW. I remember the general lay of the land, but not the specifics!

We were just there for HDDR a week ago and there were picnic tables where people could sit (facing the playground) at the far end of Pioneer Hall away from HDDR entrance.

Two years ago, we had a similar plan. We had planned to get chicken to go and then have a picnic at the Singalong site. Even though we allowed ourselves alot of time, we still missed the Singalong and ended up eating our dinner during the movie. We had to wait longer than expected to get our food, but the real reason we missed it was the buses in FW. We did not know that the Singalong was so far from Pioneer Hall. So through the evening, we waited for a bus to take us to Pioneer Hall to get our food, waited for our food, then had to take another bus back to the Singalong. All in all, it added up to more time than we had planned. So, just make sure that your friends have planned for it accordingly or getting chicken to go may not be faster than counter service elsewhere.

Ah -- thanks for the advice. This is their first time at WDW and they are a bit worried about the transportation system. Maybe chicken to-go might *not* be a good suggestion, if they are going to have to take multiple buses within FW.

We are doing similar thing, staying at POP and heading over to sing-a-long on our first day there. Our plan is to take bus to DTD, use up our voucher at Planet Hollywood for dinner, then take bus over to FW. I had considered eating at Trails End also, but having never been there figured I'd go a safer route time wise. We have to go to DTD anyways in order to catch the bus. Not going to parks that day.

Trails End take-out can be a wait. If they are at AK, I would grab dinner there. Then when they get to FW, they will only need to take the internal bus to the Meadows Trading post. They can look at the area, the pool, look in the store and then go out back to the movie. They also sell smores kits so they can do those before the sing a long.

Or, leave AK early enough, take bus from FW Outpost to Settlement, get take-out, there are tables on the porch right outside Crockets Tavern or tables down at the marina. Then play on the playgorund, walk around a little and take internal bus to Meadows. You can walk, it's not right there or anything, but with time, it's pleasant enough and you can see all the camping loops, best around the holidays when they have it all decorated for halloween or christmas.
