I couldn't decide if I should post this here or in the Disney Restaurants thread so I chose here.

I know Trails End accepts reservations but are they needed? Do they fill up and turn people away often? We are planning to eat there our first night (Saturday) after setup but have no idea what time that will be in order to make an ADR.

I'd make it for the time you anticipate to get in. I have never had ressies and have never been turned away. Unless it's a holiday I wouldn't be too worried.

We have never made a reservation for Trails End unless we were there over a holiday, and we have never had a problem getting in.
You can always make it on the day you want to go, just do it that morning if you are worried.

In my most recent experience, Dec. 2009, and prior in the same year, I would definitely make a res when you think you will arrive. In the past we did not do this, just had a drink on the porch while waiting. But, recently the wait is too long (dining plan cuased this I believe). They won't turn you away, but you will most likely have to wait and when it's your first night you really don't need that. You'll be tired from your trip. Doesn't cost anything to make the res, so I would do it and I do. Have fun.

Speaking of Trail's End, I was looking the other day on the Disney site and saw that the evening meal is priced at $100. Can that be right? Breakfast and lunch were $35 to $50 something. What's the real story?

We go during the slower weeks of Nov/Dec and have always walked into TE - longest wait was around 20 mins on a weekend night.

If you're going during a busier time, or have a really big party, I'd make an ADR just to be safe and avoid a long wait. Although waiting in a rocker on the porch with a beverage is hardly a chore. :cloud9:

Cool! Thank you all! I don't mind sitting on the porch at all but I'll go ahead and make an ADR for about an hour after dark. If I'm not done setting up my tents by then, they ain't gettin' setup and it will be beer time anyway! Last time I was down waiting for HDD, we sat and enjoyed a few beverages while watching the people go by. Cool place!
