I just made an ADR for Trail's End in December. I know that it is located in Ft. Wilderness Lodge, and I thought that you could get there by a boat. When I spoke to the woman at the resort, she told me the only way to get around is an internal bus. I do not want to ride the bus, because I have motion sickness issues, but I can tolerate riding on a boat pretty well. How do you get to the boat?

Also, if you have eaten there how was the food?

Trail's End is at Fort Wilderness Campground. You may be getting this mixed up with the Wilderness Lodge.

There is a boat to Fort Wilderness from the Magic Kingdom, which will let you off within easy walking distance of Trail's End. (There's also a boat from the MK to Wilderness Lodge, but again, that's a whole different place.)

If you wanted to drive a car to Fort Wilderness, you'd have to park in the front parking lot and take an internal bus to the Settlement, where you'll find Trail's End (it's too far to walk from there, and there is no car parking inside the campground).

As far as the food. It is simple and bland.. Kinda like hospital food. It wasn't very warm either. needed lots of seasoning. The boat ride is great over and back and the grounds are really prett. I would only go over in the future just for the functions, boat ride and to let my grandson fish and oh, look at the Christmas lights at the Campgrounds they looked wonderful...

Have you eaten at the Whispering Canyon? Is the bbq the same?

We like the breakfast there. We havent had any other meals at Trails End.

You should ask about the food on the camping board. Those people know ALL about Fort Wilderness!! They are so helpful!

I still fear that you may be getting The Wilderness Lodge mixed up with The Fort Wilderness campground.

If you are staying offsite, well, I know of few people that would make a special trip for the food at the CAMPGROUND. You could do much better, with much less effort.

The Wilderness LODGE is a deluxe hotel, and while Whispering Canyon is a step up from the food at Fort Wilderness, there are better choices.

I know you may be limited by what's available for your ADR, but please make sure that you do a little more research.

You've found a great place to do that here at DIS ! Good Luck, and have a magical time. :wizard:

Thanks for responding. We loved the Whispering Canyon.

We ate at Trails End last year and thought the food was pretty good. We took the boat from MK had a nice, quiet, comfortable dinner before heading back to the park for MVMCP. We thought it was a nice change of pace from all the DELUX food we had been eating. :rotfl: Hope you enjoy it!

We really enjoyed Whispering canyon. but had a waiter that wanted to wait on non DDP we guess but he told us we couldnt get the skillet which we found out we could. Funny thing is we all ordered the things in the skillet. I think we had a really bad waiter...Food is good there so go there for sure
