Trails end or whispering canyon

Looking to book an early dinner and explore the lodge and campgrounds (maybe chip and dale sing a long). Which is better food-wise? and family friendly? My kids are 4 & 8.

My family has done both over the years and have only positive thoughts on each. You will have to decide your preferences on each.
Wilderness Lodge (Whispering Canyon) vs Fort Wilderness (Trails End)
Sit down (Whispering Canyon) vs Buffet (Trails End)
Comedy (Whispering Canyon) vs Relaxed (Trails End)
If paying OOP, Trails End buffet (AYCE) is slightly (very slightly) cheaper than skillet (which is AYCE) at Whispering Canyon (but you can order a la carte) ***all you can drink milkshakes at WC
Both are an enjoyable boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.
Good luck deciding. We really enjoy both. If your children like comedy and want to participate in the fun, I'd go with Whispering Canyon. Now that our DD's are older, we're probably going to go more often to Trails End (really relaxing).

I agree with the PP - both are good but very different. We LOVE the antics at WCC. We have eaten there often. We love Paul at the WCC. One time he made our son give out the straws and napkins and convinced our son to throw them at all of us - well my son had the best time throwing the straws and napkins at all of us. It always is so much fun - although you don't have to partake in the antics. I love the quinoa cakes there. We also enjoy Trails End but we would pick WCC over Trails End. Enjoy!

We've never tried either of these so I have both booked for our August trip. We are looking forward to trying something new and comparing to past favorites.

Full disclosure i am not a buffet kinda guy so I found Whispering Canyon to be much better. Food, service, atmosphere... the whole 9 yards. Trail's End is in a beautiful setting though, I'll give it that. If it matters we had breakfast at each, not dinner.

For me its Whispering Canyon, because like the previous poster I'm not a buffet fan, especially at dinner. Whispering Canyon is a ton of fun and has some great BBQ. Either way its a quick boat ride between the resorts and both are worth checking out

Have been to both Trails End and WCC on several occasions. As mentioned they are very different experiences. With the kids though there is more selection at Trails End and if you're looking to make a "night" of it you can schedule dinner a bit early and then head to the campfire sing-along with Chip n Dale. It's a lot of fun and you can make a whole night of it. We love this, (and my dd is 18!) but we are big fans of Ft. Wilderness at stay at the cabins whenever possible so we can take in the whole wilderness experience there.

That all being said, both are family friendly and IMHO I think the food is similar in quality...it's just the matter of what you like (and what your kids like). WCC dinner does have a menu but also features an "all you can eat" skillet with similar offerings that they have on the Trails End buffet. Feel free to check out my photos from Trails End-

We have done them both. WCC is wild, loud and crazy. I don't care for it but my guys do. Food is good but all seems to have a smokey taste to it. TE is a quite calm buffet with good comfort food. Less variety than most buffets. WL is a beautiful resort and just a neat place to eat. FW is wide open fun.

We prefer Trail's End because we like the decor and it's much quieter than WCC. WCC gives me a headache, LOL! I think it really depends on what you prefer. Sit down and loud or buffet and quiet.

Trails End has the best food - the 'Skillet' we had at Whispering Canyon was greasy, plus we hated being bothered while we were eating. They just would not take a hint!! We are not rude people so just grinned and bore it - won't return.

We also enjoyed both but edge goes to Trails End. The food there was better and like many said, much more relaxed.

As a side note... We love WCC for breakfast, the food is excellent & the antics are so fun

I think Ourlaughingplace really gave a great overview of both!
We ve enjoyed both but have returned to Trails end for a repeat meal... several times. The buffet is hot, tasty and plentiful!!

WC can be quite loud, loud loud... so we only do it when we have a large group that wants that type of meal "atmosphere."
Enjoy whichever u choose.

If you have ever been to Hoop dee doo dinner show...
Trails end serves some of the same food on their buffet. They share a kitchen.

I loved our breakfast at Trail's end! so quiet and peaceful. Kids had fun trying to pet the ducks on the beach while we waited for the boat back to MK. WC was loud! The food was good, but it felt a little frantic. Kids enjoyed the antics, but I'd had enough by the time we left (though the company that night didn't help so...). I'd go back to both, but which would depend on what 'feel' we were going for.
