We have an ADR for WCC in August. However, I'm thinking of changing to Trails End. We've never been to either. If you've been, please offer your reviews and suggestions, and possibly point us to the better restaurant. Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Anyone out there???

I've never been to Trail's End, but I won't go back to WCC. Besides the food being mediocre (and that's being nice), the service was horrible. We were there for over two hours--and we never ordered dessert.

I would stick with WCC!! It's great. It was fun and we all thought the food was yummy. We all got the dinner skillet. The pulled pork was moist--so was the chicken. Of course the kids liked the mini corn on the cobs. We loved the 'entertainment'.

We have always had good luck at WCC. It is fun for the young and young at heart. Took a group of teens & preteens and they all enjoyed it. We have gone for both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed both.
Only tried Trails End once and likely will not go back. Prices are reasonable by Disney standards but felt like a low end buffet to me. I believe the only choice is the buffet, with WCC you order off the menu with the skillet as one of the choices.
If it was a group of teenage boys I might feel different.

We stopped eating dinner at WC. We don't like the skillet and the other choices are just OK. However, we eat at TE's a couple of times a year. While this place doesn't have alot to offer, there is generally something for everyone. I think they have a great salad bar--probably be best on property. Some pretty good fried chicken. They generally have some specials for the day and just a few other things to choose from. Dinner has better choices. We are going in August and taking our 15 yo grandson who is bringing two 15 yo friends. TE is the first place on my list to feed three 15 yo boys! I say "eat up my hardies" because I will get my money's worth from these guys. Of course my 4 yo and 2 yo granddaughters will just pick. We generally just do lunch here because we find it more relaxing. However, we still have breakfast at WC often and find that the better meal there.

Taste-Trail's End
Atmosphere-WCC
Trail's End food is superior, but inside the restaurant is boring. Getting to Trail's End is an adventure, though.

We chose between the two of these also. We have ended up booking Trails End....mainly because of the menu. WCC menu just doesn't appeal to me. We are headed to the campfire singalong after this so it seemed like a really good choice to me.

We had lunch at WCC last week (skillets), and through all the food we've had at disney we think this was the best we've had, period. I've seen some people complain about it, but my wife and I loved it. Never been to Trails End though, so I can't comment about the food there.

Agree with you about WCC. My husband got very ill after eating the meat in the skillet. And we know it was the meat because it was the only thing I didn't eat (I was disgusted by all of the other stuff).

I have never dined at Trails End, but I have been to WCC and have vowed to never go again. :(

We had lunch here for the first time, which will also be the last. The decorations in the resort were worth seeing, but this was our absolute worst dining experience in all of Disney dining experiences.

The service was AWFUL!!! It took 15 minutes for our waitress to come to the table and get a drink order. It took another 20 minutes to get that tea on our table. Anytime we needed refills, it took 10 - 15 minutes each time. I am not exaggerating.

We ordered 1 skillet, 1 pulled pork sandwich, Kids mac & cheese and 1 chicken sandwich. None of us were real crazy about the food. The cornbread in the skillet was good, however. My sister enjoyed the skillet, but said all of the meats taste pretty close to the same. Chicken and beef were interchangeable I guess.

We spent a total of 2.75 hours in this restaurant AFTER being seated while we waited and waited and waited for drinks, appetizers, dessert and dinner.

Our server was not attentive at all and her attitude kind of stunk. I am not talking about the play attitude that comes with the restaurant, I mean she had a real attitude.

At one point, she sat at the table across from us chatting with those people for more than 15 minutes. We were waiting on refills and our food. Might explain why the food was just warm.

Overall, I give it a C- for this experience.

In May I did a "boys only" trip with my DS (soon to be 5) and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge.

Since we were staying there, we ate dinner at WCC and we absolutely loved it because of all the antics. We got a great server who gave us the whole show. He loved the pony races around the restaurant too (but he's the right age for this). I'm not sure how your DD's would like WCC being that they are older.

TE may be a better choice, and I love the PP's idea of heading over to the Campfire Sing-a-long after TE.

I won't go back to WCC, for two main reasons:

My family of five was seated at a table for four. I made my ADR two months out for five people. I'm guessing the reason was we had three kids in our family, including a 13 month old baby, and they figured we really didn't need the table for five. We were pretty crowded.

The service was slow. Our waitress was not into the antics, which was fine. My kids didn't partake in any of the races. I'm not sure why just a regular dinner, with no characters and no other activities (and no dessert), would take 90 minutes.

Thanks everyone! The majority vote was for Trails End...so Trails End it is! I managed to get an ADR there for 7pm on Aug 27.

I know you have made your decision already but my vote would have been for WCC. We just ate there a few days ago and loved it - we have NEVER had a bad meal there. Lunch the antics are not as much as dinner but the food is still delicious. We had very quick service and were offered refills from the skillet. Here are a few recent photos.....

We have eaten at Trails End and the food was OK but the trip there was a pain on bus after bus.

I LOVE Trail's End. The buffet doesn't have the vast selection that some of the others do, but the food is good and the atmosphere charming.

That said... if you've been to neither, and have a good sense of humor I'd recommend Whispering Canyon. We went there for the first time last summer and had a BLAST! There were eight of us, four adults and four "kids" (10, 16, 16 and 19). The waiter pegged my 19 yo nephew as the jokester and had a lot of fun with him.

The food was acceptable. Not the best, not the worst. It isn't a quick meal. Though I think that all the Table Service meals (an a lot of the counter service meals) were very time consuming. For us it became part of the magic. It was that entertaining!

I find the easiest way to get to Trail's end is to plan it during a MK visit. We leave MK and take the boat to TE which takes you right to the marina. When we're done we take the boat back to MK and catch the bus there. If it's late, then you can take the boat to Wilderness Lodge or the Contemportary and take a bus to DTD to catch a bus back to the resort. We always do lunch so the park are always open.

I see lots of complaints about how long WCC takes. We had lunch, 2 skillet refills, and left in just over an hour. Not too bad for a TS Disney meal IMO. Maybe we just got lucky though.

I have never been to TE but we loved WCC (well, dh and I do at least). The kids generally choose chicken fingers, etc. but that skillet is what draws me in. My family had a blast with the ketchup, straws, huge drink, etc.

I would think we spent atleast 2 hours at every TS restaurant. I would rather the service be slow and we get to take our time than to feel rushed through our meal. We schedule our dinners at the end of the day so we really don't have anywhere to be anyway - maybe if I scheduled them at lunch, I might be too anxious to get back to the parks to enjoy what I'm experiencing then. Generally, if we go out to eat at a nice restaurant at home, we spend atleast that long as well so I wouldn't expect less at Disney.
