Has anyone eaten at the trails end buffet and stayed around for the movie/campfire. I thought that may be a quiet evening activity for my ds 7, dd 4, dd 18 mths.

I did lunch here on Saturday, it was pretty crowded even around 145pm. They did a great job looking after veggie me.

Don't know about the movie, but I love going to FW on busy park days to relax and wander - that's why I ended up at Trails End for lunch

I'm planning on doing this next week. If you are going after the first week in May, I'll post a review.

Where can I find information on the campfire/movie? Is there an official name for it? Would it be fun for adults with no kids also?

Any info would be great! :earboy2:

We did exactly that at Easter break 2004. A yummy dinner at Trails End, then walked over to the campfire circle for s'mores, a singalong, and the movie. Chip and Dale were there too, and I got great pictures with the kids. Gotta say though, that it is a very kid oriented event. I would not go, as an adult, without them. The log benches are not particularly comfortable, so you might want to bring a blanket or pillows if you have them. My two middle kids, aged 7 and 9 at the time, enjoyed the movie a great deal. All four (add a 13 year old and a 3 year old) liked the s'mores, the singalong, and C & D.

If just dh and I had been at FW, we would have hung out at the beach drinking pina coladas.

Thanks for the info. Do you think we would need PS or do they even take PS? We will be there 7/16-7/24.
Where do you park....at the Trails End Buffet?

I always PS, so would advise you to do the same. IIRC, you can't park at Trail's End, but have to walk or take FW transpo there (or golfcart, if you rent one). Remember, you are not supposed to drive within the resort- thus the lack of parking. It will be hot, hot, hot that time of year, so if your site is not close, keep that in mind.

Thanks for the info! We'll just have to wait until our child is old enough to enjoy it.

We did the campfire and movie last time we stayed at Wilderness Lodge. What a blast! (We like to camp, too, and that was a very "campy" thing to do!) Kids loved it. Plenty of interaction with Chip and Dale. Have fun! May have to make room for that in our schedule this time around... :goodvibes

We did the Camefire Movie last time.
Had agreat time.
Not the Buffet.
I plan on doing this next time.
I just can't remember what time the Camp fire & Movie Start. :confused3
Does anyone know what time it is?
Hm is that a song?? :rotfl2:

Are certain nights more crowded than others? What time would you want a PS for in order to make it to the campfire movie?

Dinner at Trail's End and the Campfire Program afterwards is a great idea!! The Campfire program starts at 8:00 p.m. in the summer, and 7:00 in the winter months. It begins with a sing-along around a big campfire, where you can roast marshmallows. Chip & Dale are there, signing autographs and walking around meeting everyone too! After that, they show a full-length Disney movie on the outdoor screen. There are bleachers and benches to sit on, or you can bring your own blanket to spread on the ground. There is a concession stand there selling ice cream, nachos, soda, etc. Best of all - the Campfire Program is FREE for all WDW resort guests! :goodvibes

I would plan on eating at the Trail's End around 6:00 in the summer, and 5:00 in the winter to make it to the show on time. If there's still a lot of time after dinner before the campfire program, you can always visit the petting zoo!

To get to the Trail's End, you can take a boat from the Magic Kingdom - that's the easiest way. :)

We ate at Trail's End and did the campfire and movie last October. I can't remember the exact times, but I think we ate about 1 1/2 hours before the campfire start time. We were among the first to arrive for the campfire, but the benches filled up quickly.

You can park at the entrance to Ft. Wilderness and take a bus to the restaurant, so allow yourself plenty of time for that.

This was a nice change of pace during our trip, and our DD loved making smores and watching the outdoor movie.

This is alot of fun. However, BE AWARE that Chip and Dale do not stay for the movie. We went to the Petting zoo and Stables right by Trail End, had dinner at Trails End, then asked how to get to the movie. We were advised it was too far to walk( not true-it is not a long walk) and we were told to wait on a bus for the movie. We waited for about twenty minutes, rode the bus, and got there right after Chip and Dale left. I had promised our daughter all week that she would see Chip and Dale( her favorites). We did have fun roasting marshmallows and they sang songs before the movie. Unfortunately we waited until our last night at Disney to do this. We are going in May and staying at Wilderness Lodge and we will make sure to do this the first night or two. She really loves Chip and Dale. Don't miss the stables, they have some beautiful horses there.

We've never been to either Trail's End or the campfire movie. Two questions come to mind: 1) Is PS required/recommended/available for Trails End (late August visit), and 2) Is there a published movie schedule of what's playing each night? DS7 and DD11 have just about memorized many of the Disney movies we have on tape or DVD.

Good questions. I believe Trails End has just started taking PS's. I do know that they show a variety of Disney movies--when we went, it was an old one that I've never seen before, and not one likely to be out on DVD. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Enjoy!

Trails end does take PS. The movie changes nightly. I know I've read somewhere that you can get to the movie schedule somehow, I just don't remember how. Maybe someone on the Dis can help in that regard.

If you plan on doing Trails End first, then the movie, I'd take my resort bus to MK and then take the boat to Ft. Wilderness. It's a nice boat ride and the dock is about 200 yards from Trails End.

And the previous post that says it's not too far a walk is correct. It's probably between 1/4 and 1/2 mile. The buses in Ft. Wilderness can be confusing, but there would also be a bus that can take you from the restaurant to the Camp Fire, but from the bus stop at the Meadows Trading post where the Camp fire is you would walk back towards Trails end for a short distance any way, so it'd probably be just as quick to walk.

If you go to allearsnet.com they have a map of the Campground in the resorts section. It shows where the restaurant and camp fire etc are.

on the first of the month they post the movie schedule on the camping board . HTH Michelle I would make a PS too
