I'm asking this here instead of the Restaurant Forum, because it's not so much a food question as an experience question. I'm doing a solo weekend at FW in August and wanted to have the breakfast at Trail's End on Sunday after I pack out and before heading out to a park. I tried to do a res for 1 and it said there were no openings; when I put 2 in just for kicks, it stated there were openings. :confused3 I could just put another body on the res, but I'd just assume not have to lie. From reading around here, it looks like it's one of those locations where you can make a res, but it's not really needed, you can walk-in fairly easily. Can you guys verify that?

yes, it's easy to walk up for breakfast at TE.

August is not a busy/full time at the Fort and TE doesn't get the off-property folks coming in for breakfast like dinner might (or people boating in from MK for a lunch).

So relax, leave it unstructured, and you'll be fine. The TE has a good rep as a good buffet value for breakfast (of course, everyone has their own opinion).

Have a great visit this summer!

Thank you so much. :) I have to say, I see your posts and replies all over this forum, and you're always willing to share your FW and camping knowledge, in the most pleasant way possible. It's appreciated. :thumbsup2

Hello,
As far as I known TE no longer has the buffet breakfast. You have to order al-a-carte. At least thats how it was last year.

I am not sure how you where told that. In January 2013 the breakfast buffet was still availible and even shows it on the current menu.

As to the OP - We never make reservations and we are usually group of 7+ and have yet to have an issue geting a table in a reasonable amount of time. Being a party of 1, you should have zero issues as a walk in.

maybe they changed it, but fellow campers that were with us last July went for the breadkfast buffet and it was not available. glad to see its back in that case!

I believe that there is not a buffet lunch available. But Breakfast and Dinner are still buffet.

We have never made ressies at TE and only once on week end (for dinner) would we have had to wait an hour, and we left. We have almost always just walked in, or at most 10-15 wait.

There has always been a breakfast buffet there. We have gone since opening!

Not sure where you got the confusing information - we were there last year 3 times!

Perhaps they were having problems in the kitchen that one day. Maybe problems with equipment or power to the building? Things happen that are out of even the Mouse's control. Could be jus a one day thing.

Mmmmmm, love me some breakfast pizza!

Well you are quite welcome. Please feel free to chip in on helping other posters with whatever you know.

I have to say that in person I'm quite an opinionated guy. But on the Internet where you can't see a wink, hear a voice inflection, or feel a pat on the shoulder, I've learned playing down the middle here is the best way to go. You can only do so much with an emoticon or an "LOL".

(athough I will say a few times here my patience has been sorely tried ;))

PS - take a sit in the Trails End rocking chairs for me when you are at the Fort.:yay:

I personally wouldn't say that walking up is always a breeze there. We've been to the breakfast buffet 3-4 times over the years (and they had it August 2012, so i don't know why they wouldn't have had it july 2012??!!) and we've had great luck and walked in a few times. Other times we walked up at about 9am with 4 of us and were told a 45min wait with a ton of people sitting on the porch...in those cases we just left. I'd definitely say Sat and Sun are harder to just walk in (in our experience). It's definitely worth a try though! They have the best eggs benedict i've ever had!! Good luck and have fun on your trip!

I met Ed in person on our last trip to the Fort. He turned out to be a nice guy, in spite of his reputation. And in spite of that Bama in his name. :rotfl2:

Ken,

I've discovered that our meet was secretly filmed. I'm being blackmailed with this video-negotiations are ongoing. Should we make folks guess which one is you and which one is me?

I'm asking you to protect my reputation that I've worked so hard to create. The interwebz don't like me and I'd like to keep it that way. pirate: So let's keep this "nice" stuff between the two of us.

Hey - any chance you, Judy, and the kids could head down to the Fort the last week of March next year?
