I'm hoping that leaving UO at 4 p.m. on a Monday afternoon for a 6 p.m. flight will be sufficient. Returning car to Alamo but no bags to check. Yea or nay?

I wouldn't, I find security at MCO to be problematic. We always find a long line at MCO so I would want to be at MCO by 4 to drop off the car and head to security.

I would agree to leave earlier. I've seem it crazy crowded trying to get thru security at the 5-6 pm time frames. Where there was 45-60 min wait thru security. Your flying during rush hour for business travelers trying to get home for the evening.

This is rush hour(s) for Orlando, and I personally wouldn't trust it, since (as mentioned) you will likely need extra time to get air side, too. if you chew up your buffer on the road, you may be late for the plane (and definitely stressed regardless). I would suggest allowing 45minutes to the airport from I-drive, and about that for check-in and security at MCO.

We have a condo in the area and one night left to go to the airport during this rush hour time. The traffic was so backed up we had to take an alternate route that our daughter knew...had I been alone not sure what I would have done. I would definitely not trust traffic/lack of accidents/back ups at that time of day.

I would not chance at all allowing two hours. As pp, you probably will hit some form of traffic, allow to walk over to terminal/security, give time to get through security, tram it over to the gate, get to the gate and board. TOO much rushing/stress. I think we all have seen the lines at security and they can back up and be slow. Although we have been lucky and have waited no more than 15-20 minutes that it not a chance I would want to take.

You also will start boarding at least 20 minutes earlier than your 6:00 departure time.
