Question for local residents:
How bad is the traffic on friday evening and sunday afternoon from LAX to Disneyland? Does it make sense to save on flight to LAX instead of Santa Ana and then drive to Anaheim? I don't want to be stuck in traffic with our 2 year old DD too long :)

Thanks,
Taty

Sunday afternoon may not be too bad (though it might) but Friday evening has the high likelihood of being absolutely horrible. I've lived in So Cal all my life, and I would never make the drive from LAX to DL on a Friday night--even w/o my kids--if there was any way to avoid it! If the difference is huge, you might consider flying to LAX and using part of the savings to spend a night in a hotel right near the airport, then get a very early start the next a.m. But my guess is that John Wayne/SNA will work by far the best with a 2 y.o., and if you try to drive on Friday night from LAX, you will spend a lot of time thinking that it would've been money well spent to go to SNA. Hate to be discouraging, but I'd rather you get an honest answer!

OH! Thank you so much for your answer! I thought so but needed to ask.

Another bonus is that John Wayne is so much easier to deal with than LAX. And I agree I would never make the DL/LAX drive on a Friday night or even afternoon. It is a long way with no traffic and there are many places traffic could be bad even on a Sunday along that route. Yuck. I hate LAX, and hate it even more with kids to deal with.

I think you'll be starting off on a better foot than if you were arriving at LAX simply because Burbank is a much smaller airport; you won't be exhausted before even hitting the freeway! It will be a simple drive, as you'll get on I-5 and head south (there are lots of alternate routes, but at those hours, that's probably your best bet). On a Sunday late afternoon and early Saturday a.m., you'll probably find the traffic about as good as it's ever going to be, with the realization that there is always a chance of major traffic snags somewhere in L.A. Tune your radio to KFWB 980 as soon as you get in the car, as they tend to have the most thorough traffic reports.
