Hi, we are considering staying at Tropical Palms near Old Town.
How is the traffic on this part of 192? I have heard it can be really bad due to construction. Is the construction due to be done soon?We are planning on a late April 2002 trip. Would East or WEst of I-4 better? Thanks, Debbie-Indiana

Construction to the east past Old Town is nearly finished. They are working on the landscaping now. To the west, it is still very bad. At peak travel times it can take an hour or more to get through the construction.

Glad to know the east end of 192 is in good shape. Thanks,Debbie-Indiana

They seem to continually be working on 192..every trip we stayed on the west side it was torn up..and a year would pass between each trip....It can get very congested on the west side and I was there when the east side was bad also..allow extra time if you are driving though threre to get to the parks..

We stayed on what I guess is the western part of 192 about a mile from World Drive. Even though there was construction going on, we really didn't experience any impediment to our travel to and from Disneyworld. The only time we experienced bumper to bumper traffic that was held up for a considerable period of time was when we stayed late at MK to watch the fireworks and everyone left at the same time. That was a nightmare! We didn't do that again; I think you either have to leave early before the parks close or let the crowds go out, take your time and leave later. We went at a very, very busy time too, the week after Easter and overall, the experience driving to and from our hotel was uneventful. Have a fun trip!
