Traffic lights in Orlando

On previous trips to WDW when we have gone offsite I always noticed that the traffic lights never stay green for a long time, however they stay red for long periods time which might be one reason why it can be bad during various times of the day. For example this past Monday my family and I went one last time to the Prime One Outlets on International Drive and it took forever to arrive there. Now we had assumed they would not be that busy because of the economy and the fact when we were there before with no problems and we were also the Premium Outlet Mall last Saturday night and we had no problems getting there, however in this case we were wrong. Anyway I still say part of the problem with the traffic on International Drive and other areas of Orlando was the fact the lights stayed red for long periods of time which causes a back log of cars, so hopefully one day they can get that fixed.

For the time that the light it red to you it is green for the crossing traffic. If they change it, it would back up the other way too. International Drive is never a place to drive especially at night up near the end close to Universal Studios. The traffic is horrible.

I don't have any problems since I stay out of the touristy areas. On my commute into work, I have managed to skip all the red lights and made it to work in 15 mins...it usually takes 20-30 mins...it's only happened a few times in 3.5 years but it can be done. :thumbsup2

One of the worst areas is Kirkman Road and Conroy Road near Universal. I hate that whole area which is why I take the back roads. ;)

I've never noticed that before, but I consider traffic signals to be optional! :lmao:

If they are long on the red on one side, that is because they are green on the other...

It only seems like they are red longer because red lights are by nature so irritating:rotfl:

The problem we had was at Sand Lake and Universal Blvd. The main problem was that while the light was red for us, those crossing the intersection would block the intersection, then when the light went red for them, the other side opposite us had a green arrow, so any chance that the intersection would clear was lost by the left turning cars then proceeding to block the intersection. The problem may be other lights that are not timed correctly.

This sadly has been the problem with the I-Drive area for years and years. It also is the primary reason I never ever go on I-Drive....
