Traffic Jams?

I read something about bad traffic jams getting to Disney, and around the International Drive area. Our resort is very close to Seaworld, and International Drive.

I can find directions and maps (maps.com, mapquest, google maps) but I don't know which roads should be avoided at certain times of day due to heavy traffic. :surfweb:

Are there any articles, travel books, or local resources I should use to select the best routes? I'd like to make printouts before we leave.

TIA!

Sea World is at the south end of the I-Drive tourist district; most of the traffic problems are further north. As long as you stay south of the 528 Beach Line Expwy, you probably won't have any problems.

I-4 between Sea World and WDW can get slow during commute times or when multiple parks are exiting at the same time, but again, it's usually not too terrible that far south (unless there's a crash.)

I agree with Joelkfla, you shouldn't have any significant problems with traffic back ups in that area.

Assume that you're driving from the airport to your resort. If that's the case, and your resort is in the immediate SeaWorld area, then the closest route would be to take SR 528 from the airport to exit 1 (International Drive). Turn left if going toward SeaWorld, turn right if staying near the Convention Center.
The other option would be to take SR 417 (south of the airport) to exit 6 and turn right onto International Drive at the end of the exit ramp. SeaWorld is 4 or 5 miles north.
Generally, SR 528 will be quicker to your resort, again assuming that it's quite close to SeaWorld, than SR 417 but there will probably be more traffic on SR 528 than SR 417.

I think you're going to be fine with either of those routes and, if you need a printout, I'd go ahead with using googlemaps or mapquest - I believe that either will allow you to print out directions along with the maps.
