Traffic/driving from off-site in August?

The past two times that we have gone to WDW, we've stayed at least part of the trip at Marriott's Grande Vista. Both those trips were in May. We had no problem driving into WDW or back to the Grande Vista at night.

Is the traffic much worse for an August trip? We are still deciding whether to stay on-site (winning in my mind at the moment) or see if my parents can still get a week at the Grande Vista in August. One of the deciding factors is what the driving will be like.

the later half of August should be fine.

the early part some of the schools in the south are still open - after Aug 10 (might be 12) most of the kids in Ala, Ga, Fl are back in school. those are the ones with the easiest driving time to WDW.

so it might be easier than May.

kept in mind once the kids are back in school, even in August, WDW will reduce their hours.

Yes, unfortunatly us Floridians are back in school by the second week of Aug. Traffic will not be that bad from the middle to the end of Aug. As spiceycat said, that will make the difference for you.
