I am looking into timesharing. It seems to be very costly to trade to an all inclusive resort (it almost seems ridiculous). Am I not getting it (or not calculating the amount properly for a family of 5).

Have some of you used your points to go to an all inclusive resort and had to pay the weekly fees.

I am used to travelling in all inclusive resorts and buying through a travel agent or the internet. Going through a timesharing seems to result in a vacation that costs a lot more. Am I right in thinking this. Can you explain to me your experiences.

Thank you

MOST are ridiculously priced to trade into. MOST could be gotten for cash on a package deal as cheaply as the AI portion alone is on a trade. And many are in locations where it's a shame to miss out on the off property options (Aruba, Cancun, PV, Cabo). Almost all are EASY to trade into with anything. Even the ones that can be a good deal are only a deal if they fit your needs. Buying anything to trade into an AI is not a good choice. About the only worse choice is buying the AI resort itself. OTOH, some resorts have some decent meal plans that are similar to AI but usually less costly and more flexible. Also, renting from an owner at an AI resort can sometimes get you a much cheaper price on the AI option.
