I have won two lanyards and YOMD sets of pins from postcard entries. (Sadly - no in-park winners during our trip Jan 2007.)
Question is - are these pins enough to start my nephew off with pin trading at the parks on our next visit? He's 10 yo. Or should I just not bother him with them if they are not enough?

I think the dream pins are a great way to get a kid started. He should really enjoy it. Congrats on winning the pins.

I'm not sure what pins come on the YOMD lanyards, but I'm betting they are a little too "nice" and "valuable" to let a 10 yo trade them. Whatever he gets in trade would probably be a step down, especially for someone who is not well versed in the fine art of pin trading. It is a great start for him, but what he should do is use them to start his collection of keepers. Get him some starter sets of pins, or get info on some reputable dealers who sell pin lots fairly cheaply on ebay to get him some good pins to trade and add to the YOMD pins.
