I saw the shows last night and it was the first time I had ever seen this show. I thought the friends each redesigned each other's spaces. In reality, they have a designer that is doing ALL of the designing. (for those that didn't see it), there was one where the lady said she wanted any other color but brown in her living room , and guess what the designer did, yep, put brown all over the walls, floor and furniture! The friends kept saying "she doesn't like brown", but the designer acted like she was on some happy, I'm light as a feather pill, and completely ignored them.
In the fireplace one, the homeowners did not want the firplace painted, and guess what the designer wanted to do.

Well, the friends insisted no, so he momentarily "quit" and went out and had a temper tantrum. So, he decided to "compromise" and build a plywood facade onto it which looked horrible! The whole room was soooo ugly.
I liked the family room that was redone in that same episode. I didn't think that those 2 colors (red and orange I think) would look good together with a some waincoting thrown in there.
They really need to clarify when they say friends are re-doing each other's spaces. They are actually just doing the manual labor that is involved. I didn't see any input from the friends except when the designers would say "do you like this" and they would say, "no" and it would get done that way anyway.
