I've seen a few posts about trading privately versus using II. I was doing some research and inadvertently came across an owner online of another resort who seems much more than willing to trade for a resort that I wanted in Key West. I realize it is a trade down for DVC, but still seems great that DVC is that in demand.
Anyone else have experiences like this? Wow! The power of trading with DVC! Easy as pie!

If you make it known you are interested in direct exchanges, you will get them coming out of the woodwork. If you're happy, that's all the matters but most will be wanting an even trade or close into DVC. Just be careful and ask if you're not sure.

I have seen advertisements where people specify the Sun-Thurs. night as a trade. Is this standard and okay? It would make the trade that much more of a better deal than II. I do very much want to spend a week in Key West, and I would be thrilled with any of the higher end timeshares there including the Banyan, Galleon, etc.--especially feeling comfortable with the Sun-Thursday trade. Not sure if the trader would feel happy with that, but it is a trade up for them.

Yes, the one that sticks in my mind was someone a little over a year ago posting on the rent/trade board offering a 2 BR at Marriott's Manor Club for Labor Day and asking for a studio for Sun-Fri. A great deal in my book if one could go to Williamsburg. I think this is an extreme example though and most won't be this flexible. A large subsegment will only consider an "even" exchange using unit size as the determining factor.

I wouldn't put the Banyan in the top group for KW though. The location is great but the resort itself is nothing special. The top would be the Galleon and Hyatt Sunset Harbout. The other two Hyatts a step below due to location and the Banyon below that due to the resort itself.

Thanks for the information on these. I may have a trader for the Galleon. Now to negotiate the details of the exchange! We'll see how "even" we have to be!

On our trade we are working on for Hawaii. We are giving a 1BR and getting a 2BR. So a 1BR for a 1BR is not required. Good luck.
