Trading power?

Thinking about SSR and how hard it is going to be to book 7 months out once this resort starts really growing...

I own at BCV right now, on waitlist for VWL.

Will I have trading power if it becomes hard to get into VB, HH or BWV?

Will peopel want to trade with me to get that 11 month window?
Has anyoen done this and was it easy or a real pain?
Did you find someone off the rent/trade boards and if so did you make contracts? (Not 100% sure how it even works...)

Has anyone had problems yet booking VB for the summer 7 montsh out?
Correct in that HH is almost impossible? Has anyoen traded for that?

HH has been really hard to get until this summer - several members say they did it at 7 month time - maybe the DVC cruise got alot of HH points - don't know.

Yes I would think alot of DVC members would like to trade with you. I would expect in a few years for BCV to be the most popular DVC resort. It has so much going for it!

VB is a beautiful resort - but since you live not far from me - you have probably tried the Panhandle of Florida - if so you probably won't like VB - the sand is brown - not white - the ocean can look and feel dangerous - but you might love it!!!!

VB is not a hard exchange at present and wait list generally do work - just don't ask for the 3-bed cottage for the summer and you should be fine.

I just traded some BCV points for HH points to get the 11 month window for next summer. It worked out great for me (and I hope for the person I'm trading with!). I'm sure that there will always be people who are looking to trade with someone else for a different home resort during peak times.

And if you're really worried, there's always add-ons...

Yes. We traded xxx points at BCV for xxx points at HH.

So you ahd to find soemoen who wanted to trade the same amount of points? Was that hard to do? What about use years? I guess the traded points retain the original owner's use year?

I can only speak for myself... I know that I'm not the only person who has done it though. I just put an ad on the Trade Board, and worked out a deal with someone else. The points retain their original UY and Home Resort. HTH

Could you explain how this trade worked as I thought you could only transfer points either in or out of your account during your use year but not both ways. Did one of you have to wait until your next use year to do your part of the transfer?

I have traded in the past. Basically the other member would make a reservation for you in your name w/MS, and then you in return woould make a ressie in their name through MS.
It is up to you and the other DVC member as to the details. It worked for me-3 way calling helped.

I think MS is getting used to this so it may not be as confusing as it sounds.

Oh, after the novelty of it being a new resort wears off in maybe two years, I really don't think it will be that hard to book at 7 months out. Just my $0.02.

I menat the other DVC resorts cause there woudl now be so many SSR owners wanting to book at DVC resorts other than their home.
