This is pointless, so don't buy scrapper pins, don't trade for scrapper pins....it is really that simple. We might as well be discussing if it is OK to go 10 miles over the speed limit because the state patrols will let you....still against the law, unless of course you are THAT person driving 55 and everyone is trying to get around you. What folks do with scrappers might be against your ethical and moral views but like I said it really is a pointless argument. The days of finding that super rare pin on a cast members lanyard is over, i'm not saying it is right, but it is over. It is a very poor business decision on your part to buy a $7-$12 dollar pin and then trade it away for what you think is a scrapper. Buy what you want and keep them, YOU know they are real. I think Disney years ago have noticed the trend that it is more cost effective to produce the $12-$14 dollar premium pins that are impossible to find on lanyard, lets get real we buy those and they have decided to allow these $1.00 scrapper pins to populate the lanyards. I would challenge you to find a real authentic Disney bought pin on a cast members lanyard these days, oh they might be there because of the starter sets bought with the lanyards but after the vacation is over I would say as high as 90% of vacationers go straight to ebay. You and I can argue, pleasantly of course till we are blue in the face on the rights and wrongs of ebay scrapper pins but the truth of the matter is Disney does little(nothing) to control it and they are more than happy selling you that moving, opening and spinning premium pin for $15+. I would believe they are still out far ahead selling the special premium pins versus trying to control the unauthorized pins. Hey kuddos for you for your high moral standards, hopefully you don't drive a notch above the speed limit...because of course that would be wrong...right? but remember this, it is still a piece of metal with a sharp pointy thing, it is called a pin and you don't need to look out for Disney's best interests, they have lawyers for that.
