HI All,

Brand new to the board - we are going to Disney in July - Can't wait!

I am a single mother and taking my 3 kids - I love the pins and wanted to get some prior to the trip to make it fun when we are their and a cheap thing I can buy them. I was on ebay and saw tons of different prices. I wanted to have an idea of how much the pins go for at disney - a price range?

Thanks,

Hi. Most of the pins DS collected cost $6.99 from Walt Disney World. These pins are just regular rack pins. I don't know how much limited edition pins cost. DS is the pin collector in our home.

I try and stay under five dollars for pins on E-bay. When we buy at the parks they range in price from $6.50-$12 generally. I have a problem though when I buy from E-bay to trade, I tend to buy ones that I actually like and then its hard to start trading them away. Its so easy to get those sought after pins on E-Bay that you tend to buy ones that you really love. Its best to buy some that are pretty common and normal pins that way when introducing your children to pin trading you won't have what happened to me - the CM told me not to trade as I was trying to trade a Cast Member Lanyard pin. I now use www.pinpics.com to help me decide what pins are out there. I also find that Disney Deals has great pins to buy at low prices for trading.

One other note about trading, many of the stores and the parks have trading stations where there is a book of pins to look through and trade from. It is a less social beginning for your children but it may get them used to actually giving up a pin to get another one. I also found that the CM you see in more out of the way areas, like at the resorts or in stores are fun to trade with because it doesn't happen to them as often as those in the parks so they are more likely to talk longer and take the time to allow younger children to look for a while before deciding.

Just a couple hints from a newbie trader who seems to leaning more towards collecting than trading.

Great advised - thanks! The website didn't work.

I love the pins - I wasn't sure about the trading thing figured it was something cheap the kids can get from each of the Disney location - I was thinking they were more around the $9.99 and up range - I can deal with $6.00.

The worst part is that I have to buy 3 of whatever the pins are at where we decide to buy - well 4 (1 for me) It's a good inexpensive thing to take away from the park.

I got each of the kids the fanny packs and I was just going to put the pins on the packs...

I have been doing pretty good on ebay then - I just hate that people want to charge you $2.00 for shipping - just stick it in an envelope and put a stamp on it! ... Anyway to make money I guess.

Thanks Again
Lisa

Actually you do not want them to do this. I learned the hard way when I started trading over the internet. A regular envelope with a stamp goes through automated processing at the post office and will damage a pin. Then it is basically worthless. $2.00 isn't too bad considering a padded envelope costs about $1 and postage is 60 cent.

When are you going to be there in July and which resort, we may run into each other and trade. I started just like you with a few off Ebay for DD to try and now we each have a pin bag and together we have well over 200 pins.

Try Disney Deals on E-bay. I got some great trading pins for a really good price.

Have fun!

We got ours before our trip at cheappins.com. Just click on the link to Disney pins. I bought the cheapest ones I could find without caring what they looked like b/c we were planning to trade them. Most of them were under $3.

Cheappins no longer carries the Disney pins. That ended about a week ago. Was a good deal though.

We went to the Disney Store this weekend at our local mall. They also have trading pins there. They have at least 1 special a week that with a purchase you can get the pin for $1.99. This week was a Monsters, Inc. pin. She said they would change every week our so. The pin was great! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Where is your local disney store?

BTW, my DW 's name is Melony and we call her Mel too.

I bought 2 'lots' of pins on ebay. One was 15 pins for $39 the other was 10 for $30. The shipping cost was $5 for each auction. If you buy a 'lot' of pins the shipping costs will be cut down. With shipping I paid about 3.25 per pin, now my kids can trade until their hearts are content. The only problem is, like a previous poster said, is that they like most of the pins and won't want to part with them! Have a great trip!

By the way, do a search on ebay for LOT DISNEY PINS or TRADING PIN LOT, you will get several hits. Look out it's addictive :)

The disney store was in Pigeon Forge, TN. There is another in Asheville, NC.

Mel is short for Melinda for me.

at our local Disney Store when they were on sale. Sometime, we paid less than a dollar for them! When they stopped selling them, we got a few on Ebay. We give one a day to our kids when we are at WDW but we can not get them to trade with anyone! They like to keep them all! We also let them pick out a few while we are there.

You should be able to pick up some on Ebay for a pretty price. Good luck!

If you have a car when you are at WDW then you can go over to the character warehouse outlet at Belz Outlet Mall. This is on International Dr. near Universal. Sometimes they have pins for .99-3.99 that are overstocks. We always make a stop there on our way into The World. It is also a nice place to stock up on t-shirts and gifts for friends back home!!!!

OK, I'm new to this to and I'm tryingto help my little ones get started....Why did the CM tell you not to trade a pin? Because it was hard to get? Is it ok to trade a Cast Member Lanyard PIn if you want to? Fill me in, please :)

Thanks!

bumping...hoping someone can answer my question above.

Thanks!:teeth: (sorry for the smilies - my DD is picking them for me:sunny: )

I believe it is a hard to get pin, that's why the SM was tell/advising her not to trade it as it was probably a rare find.

I want to get my mother a speacial pin for Mothers's Day....any idea on the best pin? We're leaving for Disney in 3 days, and we'll be there through Mother's Day.
