My mom is a member of interval and my sister-in-law has a Sun Terra time share. We were thinking of trying to trade a week in for a DVC unit next July. How hard is it to do a trade-in from another time share company during that time? Has anyone ver tried?

If you start now, will accept any WDW DVC resort and can take a 1 BR, I'd say the chances are modest for being successful. A 2 BR will be very unlikely. Simply put in the request through II (assuming they can trade through II) ASAP. Let us know back what happens either way please.

Well, in the past Disney didn't deposit many July units into II, and the few that were deposited were studios. Lately, though, I've been seeing some 1-bdrms at OKW being deposited for July 2008. I think Disney has some OKW inventory they've gotten from ROFR, and have been giving that to II. I don't know if that will continue for 2009, but if you get a request for 2009 in now, I'd say your chances were at least fair.

When you say it is a Sunterra timeshare, do you mean Sunterra points? They should be eligible for trading into the DVC. I think that not all Sunterra weeks are eligible for DVC trades, though.

To my knowledge DVC has not done developer deposits for exchange. While I'd agree that the higher demand weeks I've seen deposited were more likely to be studios, I think 1 BR units are also very common. I think the reason you've seen more deposits is simply that DVC members are exchanging somewhat more than previously.

okw owners could be some of the first and just want to try different places - and are NOT members here.

thanks Dean - getting a timeshare elsewhere is the way to go for trades.

besides it seems that DVC uses OKW and SSR to trade to II more than the others - although have seem VWL, BWV and BCV.
