I was thinking about booking the free dining package, but I want to buy AP's instead of the tickets that come with the package. So I called Disney, & asked if I would be able to trade the 1 day ticket in at guest services towards my AP price. One person said no because it was part of a package. So I called back, & someone else said that they can only tell me at the gate & there was no # to call to find out for sure. Has anyone else ever done this before?

Lots of people have done it. It makes no difference whether the tickets were purchased as part of a package. Just take them to Guest Services (before using them) and they'll credit them toward Annual Passes.

Thanks mary I thought that you could do it, but when the CM said no I thought things had changed

I called a couple of months ago and the CM told me I can absolutely upgrade to APs. Hopefully that is the case, or I will be scrambling to come up with an alternate plan!

The CM that told you no was correct up until January of 2005. Prior to the introduction of the MYW tickets and packages, you could not change or alter tickets purchased in a package in any way. But MYW brought a host of ticketing changes among which is the ability to now modify and and/or upgrade tickets purchased as part of a package.

Remember that the upgrade to AP can only be done at Guest Relations at a theme park or at DTD. The concierge desk at the resorts cannot do this (and I have heard of people being told by them that it can't be done). But it can.

The CM I spoke to was May 3,2006. So she was telling me that you could not do it at this time. I asked her if I bought into the free dining deal going on now if I could exchange those tickets towards my AP's & she said no.

I understand what you are saying completely. My point in my apparently too detailed explanation is that the CM you spoke to is wrong. Shocked, huh? ;)

Mary gave you the correct answer back in post #2. Take the ticket to Guest Relations and it will easily be done.
