Trading ADRs

Another DISer was so very kind to give me one of their ressies (Thanks again! ). My party is 2 adults and the ressie is for 3 adults and 1 child. Can I call and have it modified or just show up and say that 1 adult and the child decided "not to join us"????

And, when people trade ressies, do I have to call to have it put in my name???? Or, when you check in, do you only give the confirmation number???

I traded ressies with someone last year. I called 407-wdw-dine and asked that the name on my ressie be changed to my "friends" name and the other person did the same for me. It worked great. I made sure I had the first/last name, resort name and what type of dining plan they were on, which is what the castmember asked me for.

I also was given an ADR at the last minute last year and I just pretended to "be them" and gave the last name that the ressie was under. It went off without a hitch.
