We booked last year to stay with Virgin at the Howard Johnsdon in St Pete's for a week before a 2 week stint in Orlando in Sept. We have been told today that Virgin do not use the HoJo anymore, and that our booking has been moved to the Tradewinds Sandpiper down the road for the first week of our stay.

Has anyone been to this hotel???

Is it any good??

Have you tried the trip advisor site ? have a look on there but remember someone is more likely to post a bad review than if they have an acceptable or good stay.

I stayed at the Sandpiper a number of years ago - before it was part of the Tradewinds group of hotels on St Pete Beach. It's a nice enough hotel and I'm sure it will have gotten even better since it's now one of the three TW hotels. My brother and his family are staying there for a week in October and he's done extensive research!

It's in a great location - have you been to St Pete Beach before? If not, do you need any tips?

We stayed at one of the tradewinds hotels two years ago. There are three hotels all located beside each other. They all have there own facilities which are availible to residents of all three. There is a fantastic beach outside but lots of warnings about the "stingray shuffle" (don't wory we never saw or felt one!) The hotel was at one point a virgin flagship hotel.

We upgraded to a retricted view suite but the accomadation still is not up to DVC standard, but then where is :sunny:

Hi guys,

Im also staying there also in October, there are about 40 reviews on trip advisor and all are 50/50, I do know that half the hotel has been renovated and the rest will begin in November. Im not very pushy when it comes to hotel rooms, for us, we will hardly be in them during the day, as long as they are clean and comfortable then im happy.

But i would like some tips about St Petes Beach if anyone has any.

Melissa.
