Any thoughts on taking a 4 1/2 year old to (early... like 4PM) trader sam's? overwhelming or cool? on our last solo vacation we went there just about nightly and thought it was cool, but not sure if she'd be overwhelmed by, specifically, the Uh-Oa Goddess... we're staying at the Poly so it's easy enough to leave if it's a disaster, or relocate outside...

If your kid is sensitive to noise or eeriness, she won't like it.

I wouldn't bother taking my kids there if they were that young. I didn't even take them last trip and they were 15 and 9 and we stayed at the Poly.

We took DS when he was 7. He LOVED it!

If it's early enough, I say try it.

On a whim, DW and I went to Trader Sam's at 5:30 after an early dinner at Capt. Cooks (it was our check in day and we had an early flight.) with DD11, DS10, and DD4. Anyway they had a corner table available, so we grabbed it. Our older 2 kids loved that they were "hanging out in a bar" (Parents of the year!), and DD4 liked it for awhile, but after about 15 minutes, she had enough, so DW quickly finished her Polynesian Pearl and took her out to the shops.

We took our 3 year old twice in early February. The first time, he fell asleep in daddy's lap at the bar and the second time, he enjoyed watching the effects around the room. We went at about 4:15-4:30 both times and it wasn't crowded. We frequently take him out to eat at restaurants and pubs, so he knows our expectations and we know his limitations and the signs when he is getting restless.
