We will be doing rope drop at MK on a Sunday, early May... thinking of a drink at Trader Sam's when they open at 4pm... do people still line up to get in or is it easier now?

We were there first week of February and got in line around 3:45. There were maybe 15 people in front of us. Someone came by and took our name, and when they opened at 4, we all walked in as they checked off our names. There were people in line behind us that got cut off at the entrance and I assume they were then given a pager. There were 2-3 tables left by the time we got in. I'd get there about 3:30 to be safe.

We showed up at 4:30 in February anfit was a 1.5 hour wait. Definitely get there early or just go to the tiki terrace, we found seating there.

Good to know. We are planning to go there next month and wondered how early we needed to get there.

Last August we flew in on a Sunday and hubby needed a drink as soon as we landed we walked in 2 kids in tow at 4:15 sat at the bar for a drink as soon as we walked in. We stayed for one drink but as we were leaving there was a wait probably there 20minutes. It was a cool experience are girls were intrigued that a thunderstorm was happening inside.

So jealous! We had a blast. I will say even if you have a wait there is a lot to see around the Poly. I spent most of the time getting my Trader Sam's Hawaiian Shirt, but my wife had fun too. If you are going back to S/D after Sam's consider taking a Lyft/Uber. It was cheap and easy, door to door delivery, after a couple drinks navigating the monorail/bus might not be the best ;)

Do they make a list when they are full? Trader Sam's at Disneyland is a total mess and basically you just stand around stalking the other tables. :scared:

They do take names, but it's still up to you to find seating once you get inside. They go by number of people inside, not available tables.

This. I believe they give you a pager when there is a wait to enter. But even when your pager goes off, you can enter Trader Sam's but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a table available. There were several groups standing huddled around the bar area with their drinks, and they pounced when we got up from our table.

I've never had a problem getting in to TS. We have only been twice and both times around 10-11 at night. Maybe it is easier later????

We have an 8:30 ADR at Ohana and I was thinking about checking out TS beforehand...are there long lines at around 7:45/8ish?

These are the 2 times I've noted lines for the indoor Trader Sam's: when it opens and when Spirit of Aloha ends.
Can't say about the outdoor version since it was not in my path through the lobby.

We were there last month. Glad to have read this page. We arrived at 3:30 and got our name on the list. There were several people in front of us, but some of them were for a group of 8-12.
When it opened, there were 10 people after us who got in. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed it. The bar staff was great! A must do next time.
You really do need to get there early. It is not that large inside.
I felt sorry for those who didn't get in at the start. We were the third group to leave and nobody left before 5:30 and it opened at 4!

I'm not sure if this is still occurring but last time we were there, if Trader Sam's was at capacity, people were given pagers that would go off when they could return to enter. So that would allow people to go outside or walk around nearby areas rather than queue up in a line. We also saw people lining up shortly before opening, and then people were given a pager after they reached capacity.

When we were there in April, they took your cellphone number an paged you when it was time that you could enter the bar.
