If we have time to stop at Trader Sam's before our 'Ohana ADR, can we take our drinks with us to 'Ohana?

We have a 4:15 ADR...

Thanks!

If Trader Sam's opens at 4:00 and 'OHana asks that you check in 15 minutes early I don't see how you can get a drink at Trader Sam's before 'OHana,
At any rate, if you are able to, I would insure that my server knew what I wanted to do so that they do not server your drink in the usual "glass".

Personally, I would go to TS after dinner. I think you are going to need to really rush from one lounge to another restaurant, and cannot see how that would be fun, even if you are allowed to take your drink.

Thanks everyone. I knew that was the answer, just wishful thinking!

How busy is Trader Sam's these days? We'll be there on Tues Feb 7 :)

1) In my opinion, AIN'T NO WAY to make your ADR.
2) At some bars, they allow a take-away cup, so this might be possible, if the timing worked out.
3) You would have to be first in line at Traders to even get a seat and get served.
4) Then, you have to wait for your drink while the SERVER takes other orders. *
5) You would be late for your ADR, and have the possibility of the ADR being cancelled **

* If you were sitting, the Server took an order for the table next to you, then ran off, you would be upset. Plus, the Server's job is get as many people drinking as possible as fast as possible to increase incomes and tip, or have the table turn-over to other patrons.

** ADR Times and Tardiness "411":
1) WDW advises you to be at the ADR 15-minutes early.
2) You are expected to meet your ADR time, just like any other appt.
3) Being on-time is your responsibility, not that of WDW.
4) If late, they *can* cancel the ADR.
5) Under normal conditions, they usually allow up to a 15-minute lateness, but this is kindness, not a Grace Period.
6) If really busy, (eg, Free Dining, Holidays), there might be no Grace Period.
7) If you miss the ADR, you *might* have the ability to wait for a table.
8) For waiting times, there is no estimate, waits of 1-1½ hrs are common.
. . . if the eatery is not too busy, wait times could be minimal
. . . just depends upon the individual day-time-etc
9) They also have the option of canceling and just sending you away.
10) These options are at the discretion of the SEATER on duty at the podium.
11) Plus, it is up the eatery manager to decide if you get charged the $10/person no-show fee.

With a 4:15 ADR so close to Trader Sam's 4:00 opening, I don't think this will work, as others have said. However, for reference, I did want to mention that we saw a couple get drinks to go from Trader Sam's, so it is possible if the time crunch isn't quite so tight. The couple we saw came in around 4:45 (not right at opening, but after the bustle of the first wave of guests has calmed a bit), told the server as they were greeted that they didn't have much time, ordered drinks, and were paid and on their way out with to go cups in about 15 minutes total. Clearly everything has to align perfectly.

As others have noted, Trader Sam's probably isn't in the cards for you before your 'Ohana seating. But don't despair! If it's a good tiki drink you're craving, the Tambu Lounge adjacent to 'Ohana will be open and can definitely satisfy your tastebuds. In fact, I think their drinks are actually a teensy bit better. You may not be able to purchase a souvenir glass, but you can take home a fun backscratcher. Or even better, enjoy my very favorite drink, the Lapu Lapu, out of a real pineapple. Then, visit Trader Sam's after supper. Not a bad compromise!

But the way, love the profile pic. We did the Segway tour too, so much fun!

And, for the record, (even though the timing won't work out for OP's drink) they will transfer your drink at Trader Sam's to a plastic cup to take to any of the other restaurants at Poly.

If you're looking to have the drinks and not the atmosphere it might be worth checking to see if the patio behind it is open (go outside along the pool instead of inside the GCH). You can walk right up to the bar and they serve in plastic cups. We got drinks to go there a couple nights and it was a quick process. I don't know if they open right away though.

If you get drinks from the patio, do you still have all the fun options for the unique souvenir glasses?
